The Daily Show calls Cory a "slut"

Protest Daily Show 'slut' tag on Cory - Miriam to DFA


Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago said Friday she will ask the Department of Foreign Affairs to send a note verbale against the US television show “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" which used a disparaging photograph of former President Corazon Aquino with the word “Slut" on it.

"I just have to write another request. I hope [Foreign Affairs] Secretary [Alberto] Romulo does not get peeved with me, “ said Santiago who chairs the Senate committee on foreign relations.

Santiago was reported to have been nominated by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial organ of the United Nations.

The senator earlier bared plans of leaving the Senate should she secure a seat in the ICJ when Jordan’s term expires in 2009.

Meanwhile, Gabriela secretary general Emi de Jesus said the militant group will send a protest letter to the network which airs “The Daily Show," saying that the insult was not done only on Mrs. Aquino but on all Filipino women.

“Sa palagay ko kahit na sinong babae na masabihan noon ay isang hindi lamang simpleng affront. Violation siya, isang malaking pagtampalasan doon sa pagkatao (I think any woman who would be called in that way would not dismiss it as a simple affront but a violation, a big dishonor to her humanity)," she said.

“The Daily Show" is a Peabody and Emmy Award-winning American satirical television program produced by and airing on Comedy Central.

This is totally foul ! It degrades not only our former president but also the Filipinoes. Even if they say that its just a joke, still their should be some limitations.

What if we call Jon's mom a "slut" as well, what would he feel?

Sa dami ng senador sa Pilipinas bakit si Santiago pa (Remember the China comment)? Bakit hindi si Benigno Aquino Junior ang humingi ng apology from the Show?

yup they are used to that, try watching Jay Leno & Dave Letterman.......pero sa kanila na lang yun.....

i love the daily show din kasi... da best pagdating sa pagpapatawa at pagtira sa mga politicians   laffman::

 hay, ang dami namang mga apolohiyang kailangang ibigay sa pinas... baket pagdating sa mga ganyan ang bibilis umaksyon ng mga politicians natin...

 pero pagdating na sa mga problema mismo sa pilipinas, yung isang maliit na hukay sa kalsada...aabutin ng taon para maayos...

siguro d na yata tama ang pangaalipusta sa mga pilipino masyado ng inaapi ang ati lahi lalo sa mga pilipino kagaya natin kagaya nalang ng isang sitcom ng isa abc ang desperate housewife nilalait ang ating lahi d yata tama yan dpat gumawa ng aksiyon ang ating gobyerno lalo ng yun mga oposisyon d yun puro bangayan sila ng bangayan d ba nila naiisip inaalipusta ng ating bayan dhil sa kagagwan rin nila kumilo kayo lahat d yun mga walang kwenta ang pinaagsayan ninyo ng oras binuto kayo ng taong bayan para ipakita ninyo kung dapat ng kayo sa pisisyon ninyo ngayon ma pa oposisyon o maba gobyerno wag kayong papayag ba yurakan ng ibang lahi ang ating dangal na pinabuwesan ng ating mga mahal na bayani...

Everything is fair game to comedy. If you've watched US comedy shows and haven't learned that by now, then you're probably too slow, or too naive.

i don't think nag-generalize ang daily show regarding that joke, di kagaya ng cnabi sa desperate housewives, kc un ang mas masakit...

sa comedy shows sa US, karaniwan no holds barred sa knila, it's their culture, and i dnt think it will have that much deleterious effect sa pamumuhay ni madam cory, mananatili siyang sikat at mayaman magpakailanman, so sa mga tao jan na ngpapakabalat sibuyas, we have greater problems regarding our poorer fellow filipinos, sila pagtuunan natin ng pansin, di yang ubod na ng yaman.

bakit hindi ginagawa sa Pilipinas yang ganyang jokes, kc namemersonal ung mga pulitiko d2, bka ipapatay pa ung mga comedy writers at comedians, at tingin ko hindi rin dahil mas magalang tyo, in fact, kapag ayaw ntin sa tao di ba, pati nanay nila, sinasabihan ntin ng "P*ta", eh wla nman kinalaman ung nanay nila, hehe. (much common kc sa atin ung curse na PI, sa kano nmn, FU). plus, mas aware at mas may laban ang mamamayan dun coz of their strict enforcement of the bill of rights, first amendment bills ata un.
