filipinos have matured when in comes to exercising their right to vote. oo nga at nandiyan pa rin ang mga kung anu-anong mga pakulo tuwing eleksyon, vote-buying, etc. pero tignan ninyo ang ginawa ng mga tao nung 2007 ( at least sa place namin), kinuha whatever the candidates gave them and voted who they felt would best serve them. may isang local politician who dished out close to 30 million solely to buy votes as opposed to a couple of millions spent by his opponent (poor lang kasi, mostly ay donations lng daw, according to the source). the "poor" candidate won by a large margin.
i think we would have a lot of new faces and non-traditional personalities who would make it this election. sawa na kasi ang tao sa mga "beterano" na wala namang nagagawa. when i say "beterano", im not referring to the age or length of the person in public service but rather the persons skills in enriching himself and his cohorts while in power. that said, im thinking marami talagang lulusot na mga hindi dating nakakalusot.
ika nga dito sa amin now, "mansalat ti met na kawes" or "agsukat tayo met ti bado" (hope tama ang spelling ko dito). that is the growing sentiment nowadays. and im sensing people are really excited for the coming election, not just because its an automated one, but because they feel its "payback" time. matakot na ang mga walang nagawa para sa bayan.
