Worst Case Scenario Survival Techniques
How to Jump from a Building into a Dumpster1. Jump straight down. If you leap away from the building at an angle, your trajectory will make you miss the dumpster (i.e. you splat instead of crash into trash).
2. Tuck your head and bring your legs around, executing a three-quarter somersault. This allows you to land with your back facing down.
3. Aim for the center of the dumpster. (Because, you know the sides are made of, like, metal and can split bone like nobody's business.)
4. Land flat on your back. When your body hits any surface from a significant height, the body folds into a V. This means landing on your stomach can result in a broken back.
How to Survive if your Parachute Fails to Open1. Signal to a companion whose chute hasn't opened yet that you are having a malfunction. Wave your arms and point to your chute.
2. When your companion gets to you, hook your arms into their chest strap or through the front of their harness, all the way up to the elbows.
3. Your companion should open their chute.
4. The chute opening shock will be severe, probably dislocating or breaking your arms. Your friend will have to hold on to you with one arm and steer with the other.
5. If there's a body of water nearby, head for it.
How to Survive an Avalanche1. Struggle to stay on top of the snow by using a freestyle swimming motion.
2. If you are only partially buried, dig your way out with your hands or by kicking at the snow. If you have a ski pole, poke through the snow until you feel open air.
3. If you are completely buried, dig a small hole around you and spit in it., The saliva will fall down, giving you an idea of which direction is up.
How to Survive a Trip Over a Waterfall1. Take a deep breath just before going over the edge.
2. Go over the falls feet first.
3. Jump out and away from the edge of the fals just before you go over and cover your head with your arms.
4. Start swimming immediately upon hitting the water, even before you surface.
5. Swim downstream, away from the falls. It is essential that you avoid being trapped behind the waterfall or on the rocks underneath.
