help. RAM & VC queries
« on: April 18, 2007, 07:11:34 am »

From your images, you have a PC2700 MoBo. So you need to buy a RAM chip for PC2700's.  toast::

as far as I know (other spies can correct me if I'm wrong), PC2700 RAM is DDR that can run up to 333MHz. When and if you buy, all you need is to tell the sales clerk that you need a PC2700 RAM and the memory that you need, may it be 256MB, 1GB, and so on.

On VC, if you have a VC slot on your MoBo, pag naglagay ka ng VC, it will override your on-board VC.  toast::

ayun, naliwanagan din ako. salamat kaespiya.  ;)

from the ss nga, i dont see the mobo brand (though im guessing its asus)

you have a AGP slot for your video card, your pc is socket 775

PC2700 is DDR333, and you only have 256MB of ram and since your video is on board then your actual ram is lower than 256MB. so yeah adding another RAM module will be of great help. however, mahirapan ka maghanap ng DDR333 these days. you can go for PC3200 (DDR400) since your mobo will support it. but, there might be a compatability issue with the existing DDR333 installed.

It's adviced that you use RAM chips that are the same...kung pc3200 ddr400 ang isa, mas maganda the rest ganun din.

on the VC, I would recommend nVidia or ATI... toast::

your mobo is ASRock 775VM800,

http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=775VM800Pro-DDR2

here's the link to the manual (and the drivers) of your mobo

http://www.asrock.com/support/download.asp?Model=775VM800

agp 8x means it supports agp cards that are 8x speed. you shouldnt worry much about this since this is the last agp speed available. its also backward compatible so you can use agp 4x (even 2x) video cards (though halos ala na yung mga yun, puro na 8x ang natira ngayon)

video card? agp yan right? my recommendation is ATI...maybe the 9550EE if you can still find it

ok boss, pero pardon for my innocence, can you give me some products na pwede sa pc ko? hindi yung basta ATI or Nvidia, yung may 9550EE for example. salamat po.

laffman:: tol  Jann, sorry at masyadong generic ang sagot ko about recommended VC. I said that kasi I trust that you'd do your research on it since ikaw ang nakakaalam ng kailangan mo. Those are the two brands that are well trusted, with ATI leading the way. Search mo lang sa google yung mga ATI/ nVidia 256MB (or whichever capacity you want) na AGP.  Pero, ofcourse I bet boss bodieph will have great suggestions...toast::
