Question About HDD Partition
« on: December 04, 2011, 02:08:57 am »
guys, i need some input, kasi 1 have a 500gig HDD. ok lang kaya na hindi ko na ito i-partition (like 250-250gig in 2 partition)? or magkakaroon siya ng malaking impact sa performance ng HDD in the long run??

any comments / suggestions accepted.

actually less partitions, faster access times. if you do the windows rating thing, you will notice that your HDD rating will be higher if your HDD has less partitions

if you have the extra money i would rather get two HDD, one not so huge storage (say 320GB or less kung may mahanap ka pa) for OS and another one for your data.

problema kasi now with the large storage available, pag isang HDD lang gamit mo at nataon na tinamaan ka ng virus that affects the MBR or the disrupts the partition clustering. ubos ang laman nyan, kahit pa several partitions gamit mo, ubos lahat laman nun.

kaya ako at least dalawa HDD ko, one purely for OS and another for data. para in case na magkaprobelma yung sa OS, i can just reformat that and reinstall then i can proceed with recovery with the other HDD in case it was also affected

or if you have the money, go for an ssd, and a hdd... dapat talga dlawa hard drive... but if hindi afford, wala namang impact un sa performance. mas madali nga lang ang disk mgmt kapag nakapartition sa mas maliliit na disk spaces, kasi madali siya i-defragment. ako kasi nka 1TB, tapos 7 partitions ko, bale 2 primary, 5 logical... haha.
