A prankster from St. Luke’s Medical Center played a joke on Sen. Ramon “Bong†Revilla Monday by switching an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan of his brain with another scan that was apparently Photoshopped with a peanut.
The senator, who was in headlines recently for his speeches against the Alec Baldwin semi-racist joke and the Katrina Halili-Hayden Kho sex scandal, had been complaining of a headache since last week, prompting a visit to the hospital.
When the doctors could not immediately determine what was wrong with him, an MRI was taken of his brain in hopes of determining the cause of his migraine, hospital sources said.
After the MRI was taken, Dr. Rene Tolentino, the attending physician, approached Revilla with what he thought was the senator’s MRI scan.
The doctor and the patient were both shocked when they saw the MRI. (See contributed photo below.)
“Dok, yan ba talaga ang utak ko? Bakit ganyan ang itsura? Parang… parang mani? (Doc, is that really my brain? How come it looks like… like a peanut?)†a shocked Revilla asked the doctor, who was as astonished as he was.
“Excuse me, Senator Revilla, I believe there has been a mistake,†Tolentino told Revilla and hastily left the room.
Later, Revilla learned that it had been a prank by one of the hospital staff, whose identity remained a mystery at press time.
Hospital insiders said the senator turned livid with rage.
“Kung sino man ang gagong yun, lumabas ka! Magpakalalaki ka! Suntukan na lang tayo! (Whoever did this, show yourself! Be a man! Let’s just punch it out!)†he was heard shouting in the waiting room.
To appease him, Tolentino promised the senator he would investigate who orchestrated the prank and would punish him or her with the appropriate administrative penalty, the sources said.
The doctor then proceeded to show the senator his real MRI scan.
But apparently the prankster had struck again. In place of the peanut, there was a mung bean in the space where Revilla’s brain should have been.
Revilla inspected the MRI carefully and commented: “E teka lang, dok, bakit parang mukhang munggo naman ito?â€ÂÂÂ
