they all u se GSM technology using devices like USB adapters and routers that have embedded SIM cards so that they connect to GSM/UMTS/HSDPA signals

what i noticed here in the US with at&t 3g is that no all areas have 3g so they connections backsteps to EDGE and is much slower than UMTS, and they inform customers what areas have 3g and what areas only have EDGE, and unstable 3g areas will backstep to EDGE

so if in the US with all the available technology they have places without 3g, what more in the Philippines, the fact that not all areas in our country have 3g and only rely on GRRS and EDGE is a fact but of course Globe and Smart will not disclose which areas can actually access 3g and which cant, they sell theyre products and services not telling potential customers that theyre area may not have 3g, and sad to say they do not have any software that tells you if you are connected to 3g or EDGE unless you have a 3g ready cellphone, and just because an area has 3g does not mean its stable and constant 3g, if one looses the 3g connection it will backstep to EDGE so intermittent speed fluctuations suffer from the unstable 3g signal

so they are not lying when they say "up to 2mbps" since it can start from a speed of 1kbps, and what you dont ask, they dont need to tell you

hehe why does anyone with a product/service to sell use commercials, to sell, syempre kung gusto mo mabenta yung  produkto o serbisyo mo, at syempre ang sasabihin lang nila yung "near truth" about what they sell(up to 2mbps pero di naman nila sinasabi na maguumpisa sa 1kbps), although they dont lie they also dnt need to tell you the negative aspects of what they are selling, mga pinoy pa naman basta makamura walang pakialam kaya ayun naloloko tapos magrereklamo, hindi naman malalaman ng customer na sa EDGE lang sya nakakabit at hindi sa 3g since nakaconnect sya alam nya naka 3g sya pero mabagal

Swerte lang ako kahit sa bundok ako nakatira stable naman connection ko, wala naman ako nakikitang problem about globe as of now.

Actually hindi sya panget at hindi rin kagandahan.

Taking for example. Pumunta ka sa Makati area gamitin mo yung Smart or Globe 3G/HSDPA wifi mo. guaranteed mabilis and attainable yung 1.5MBps speed or more. Then try mong pumunta sa Ilocos na malayo sa city or town for sure naka EDGE connection ka lang or wala.

Bear in mind na Wi-Fi ang gamit mo, it will depend sa location and AP kung saan ka coconnect.

Sabi nga nila know the product bago mo bilhin. Kung paano nag wo-work at ano ang limitations. Hindi porket sinabi sa commercial na ganito at ganyan paniniwalaan mo agad.

Minsan din kasi me kasalanan din ang consumer. Sa sobrang eager na magkaroon at gustong sumunod sa uso nakakalimutan mag tanong ng mga bagay-bagay bago bumili. Basta na lang magkaroon sya at maipakitang meron sya. Bili na agad.

Parang bumibili lang ng iPhone yan...kahit wala ng pambili ng load basta naka iPhone pasok sa uso.

i'm not sure kasi kung maganda ang signal ng globe when it comes to that product.. ehh pag ginagamit ko yung wap sa globe sa cp ko, ang tagal ehh.. and lagi pang nadidisconnect.. actually parang mas mahal pa ang rate nila (both globe and smart), in a sense na what if kung laging ma-disconnect, so pag nag connect ka ulit, panibagong bawas na naman sa load yun... kaya ayun, i decided not to buy it...

kapitbahay ko dito, naka-smart. 4500 pa ang bili nila, yung first time na lumabas. ever since, di magamit dito sa area namin. pag dinadala nila sa smart center yung laptop and USB unit may connection. pag-uwi ng bahay wala. ilan beses na sila nagpapabalik balik. di masagot ng CS sa smart kung ano problema. sa akin na lang tuloy nagtanong

ako i'm using sun broadband (plan 799) pag nasa manila ako, katulad din 'to nung globe tattoo (huawei E160) ok naman speed nya smooth naman & stable naman ang connection nya kahit walang sun  nakakapanood pa ko ng live streaming ng nba

dito kaya sa cavite area? ok kaya ang 3g signal dito? pag lipat kasi namin ng house,wala pang landline service sa subdivision na yon eh. pinag iisipan ko pa naman yung tatoo.

Totoo ba na yun sa Sun eh halos lamangan ang ordinary dsl ng pldt in terms of speed? may nabasa akong blog about jan eh

depende yan, kung nasa hsdpa area ka like dun sa place ko i have to say yes.. and pagkakaalam ko eh metro manila pa lang ang availability ng sun broadband

yup. im planning to go for sun... mabilis siya specially here sa metro manila... siguro kaya nagupgrade ang bayantel kasi nttlo na sila ng mga ganto.. yknow what i mean.

sa smart pag tumawag ka sa *1888 may software cla na ginagamit at real time nilang makikita kung ano signal nasasagap ng usb modem mo. may list din ung mga agent ng mga area na covered ng HSPA or HSDPA which is up to 2mbs ang speed. maraming area within metro manila pro hindi rin lhat  may mga province din na may ganung signal especialy mga major cities. sa ad ng smart bro nakalagay dun up to 2mbps tas may nakasulat sa ibaba na selected areas only. mas maganda cguro before tayo bumuli itanong muna ntin sa wireless center kung covered ung area ntin ng HDPA signal pra hindi tayo mabigla kung bakit mabagal ung connection natin. kung may linya din lang sa area natin cguro i prefer DSL nlang Smart or Globe.

The bottom line on this is...

hindi pa talaga stable ang mobile broadband ng pinas... puro lang testing..testing in the commercial side. akala mo okay na yung pala testing lang tapos nagbabayad yung mga users.

dito kaya sa cavite area? ok kaya ang 3g signal dito? pag lipat kasi namin ng house,wala pang landline service sa subdivision na yon eh. pinag iisipan ko pa naman yung tatoo. 

San kb s cvte brad? Ako sa cavite city,ok naman. Ung bagong tattoo ang sa akin,nilagyan ko sya ng external antenna. Wag lang uulan pero ang download speed ko,maniwala ka,umaab0t minsan ng 177+ pag stable ang connection. Pag naman mahina 70- pababa. As of now ok naman. 5php/min ang rate,so kahit ma dc ka ng ilang beses,as l0ng as pas0k ka sa 15min durati0n,5php lang bwas.
