the numbers are the socket types and syempre the farther down the list the newest and the better, this is how i remember the sequence of how the Intel CPUs came out from Pentium 1 to the 2nd gen Core i line, if i made an error please feel free to correct me

SC = Single Core
DC =  Dual Core
QC = Quad Core
H = Hyperthread
NH = No Hyperthread
CM = Cache memory
NCM = No Cache Memory
T = Turboboost

1/1 = 1 Core 1 thread
1/2 = 1 Core 2 threads
2/2 = 2 Cores 2 threds
2/4 = 2 Cores 4 threads
4/4 = 4 Cores 4 threads
4/8 =  4 Cores 4 threads

Pentium 1-4 478 SC, H, CM, 1/2
Celeron 478 SC, NH, NCM, 1/1

Pentium D 775 DC(supposedly), H, CM, 2/2
Celeron D 775 SC, NH, NCM, 1/1
Pentium 4 775 SC, H, CM, 1/2

Core 2 Duo 775 DC, H, CM, 2/4
Core 2 Quad 775 QC, H, CM, 4/8

Intel Core i5 1st gen 1156 DC/QC, NH, CM, T, 2/4 and 4/4
Intel Core i7  1st gen 1366/1566 QC, H, CM, T, 4/8
then Pentium Dual core DC, NH, CM, 2/2
Intel Core i3 1st gen 1156 DC, NH, CM, 2/2

Intel Core i3 2nd gen 1155 DC, H, CM, T 2/4
Intel Core i5 2nd gen 1155 DC+H, QC+NH, CM, T 2/4 and 4/4
Intel Core i7 2nd gen 1155 QC, H, CM, T 4/8

i forgot to mention that Core i3 was meant to replace Core 2 Duo line while Core i5 was meant to replace the Core 2 Quad line, the i7 line is separate class on its own says Intel

sorry about this also forgot to mention what Hyperthread, Turboboost and Cache memory is

Hyperthread =  1 command executed is divided in to 2 command threads per core so one core can execute 2 threads speeding up the processing, in effect 2 cores can have 4 threads and 4 cores can have 8 threads, its simply dividing up the processing load to speed things up

Turboboost =  in a 4 core CPU applications may only need 2 or 1 of those 4 cores to execute, so if an application needs only 2 cores the CPU will use only 2 cores and speed them up(AKA Boost) increasing the frequency of only the 2 cores lets say a 4 core CPU clocking 2.0ghz  can be turbo boosted to 2.6ghz on 2 cores and 2.8ghz on 1 core

Cache Memory =  is basically used to store most frequently used data so that if said data needs to be accessed then it will be faster to grab the data from the cache rather than from the main memory, so most frequently used programs start up faster

  i think 2 cores and 2 threads din ito.

at sa pagkakalam ko madali uminit ang old pentium d's kesa sa newer core2duo,. but same no of cores din. halos walang pinagkaiba maliban sa frequency at architecture but basically same dual cores.

Pentium D was the "1st" dual core CPU na nilabas ng intel kasi natakot sila kasi nagannounce ng DUAL core CPU ang AMD that time, so para di sila maunahan they modded a Pentium 4 CPU to an LGA 775 socket then said it was the "1st" dual core cpu ever when they modded it to look like 2/2 instead of 1/2 na biglaan din nilang pinalitan kasi nadiscover ng tech site na Pentium D was nothing mo that a 1 core 2 thread CPU na lumalabas na 2 cores 2 threads

Core 2 Duo = 2 tao / 4 na timba
Core 2 Quad = 4 tao / 8 timba
Dual core = 2 tao / 2 timba
Core i3 = 2 tao / 2 timba pero mabilis maglakad kesa core 2 at dual core
Core i5 = 2 tao / 4 timba o 4 tao / 4 timba mas mabilis maglakad sa core i3 at core 2 quad
Core i7 =  4 tao / 8 timba pero nakasakay sa sasakyan

alangya pinacomplecate nyu ang lahat haha
dual core = 1st generation kumbaga beta version
core to duo = later version/improved version.

alam ko ang dual core ng intel are the Pentium D
and yun sinundan sya ng Core to duo and ang pagkakaalam ko mainit na procie ang Pentium D
kaya inimprove nila to Core2Duo.
