The Purefoods Giants and the Barangay Ginebra Kings are the most popular teams in the Philippine Basketball Association, a survey conducted by Social Weather Stations last March show.

SWS, which released its results only Thursday night, said the two sister teams were cited when respondents were asked "which are your two favorite (PBA) teams, if any."

Purefoods and Ginebra, sister teams belonging to conglomerate San Miguel Corp., "were cited by an equal 31 percent of adult Filipinos," the SWS said on its website (www.sws.org.ph).

"Ginebra is most popular team in Metro Manila and Balance Luzon (areas outside Metro Manila in Luzon), while Purefoods is most popular team in the Visayas and Mindanao," SWS said.

Ginebra is more popular among men, while Purefoods is more popular among women.

About two-fifths (39%) of men cited Ginebra as their favorite PBA team, 31 percent mentioned Purefoods, 27 percent mentioned Magnolia, and 16 percent mentioned Alaska.

On the other hand, 31 percent of women cited Purefoods as their favorite team, followed by Ginebra (23%), Magnolia (14%), and Alaska (11%).

We all know that surveys are conducted from about 100 to 1000 persons only. Minsan dinudoktor pa. Can Purefoods fill the Araneta Coliseum with 22,000 plus people? I gess not. Ginebra is still by far the most popular team in the Philippines, ke lalake, babae, bakla o tomboy, may ipin o wala...

ano una ang purefoods?!!!!! i'm not a ginebra fan pero i can say na ginebra should be no.1 in that list..pero dapat kasi di nagpalit ang magnolia ng name and should have stuck with San Miguel mas classic at for sure alam ng khit sino..tsk tsk Go SAmboy LIm !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Parang hindi ko matanggap na mas sikat ang Purefoods kaysa sa San Miguel  Tama yun na dapat ay hindi nalang pinalitan ang name ng team nila pero sabagay kahit ang Ginebra nagpalit ng team name nuon naging Gordons Gin hindi naman nawala ang kasikatan, in fact lalo pa sila sumikat nuong time nayun nila Vince Hizon, Marlou Aquino, Val David, at syempre ang magamang Jaworski  Goodtimes
