see, this only tells me that im not a big KK fan, i don't even know they have friggin burgers or somethin
they have burgers in Krispy Kreme??
In the interests of accuracy and fairness, the Krispy Kreme burger isn't officially listed on the donut chain's menu but it's a rather popular food item in the U.S. A lot of diners and eateries offer the Krispy Kreme burger (
or the donut burger, as some simply refer to it). There's even one establishment in Wisconsin that gives the customer the option of chocolate-coated bacon instead of regular bacon. Coincidentally enough, Wisconsin is also the home of the butter burger, which is prepared by melting an entire stick of butter on a freshly-grilled beef patty.
The story behind the ultra-caloric Krispy Kreme burger supposedly goes along these lines: the late musical icon
Luther Vandross and his friends were at his home one day and wanted to chow down on burgers. Vandross already had the patties grilling when he found out that he had no buns. In a fit of inspiration, laziness, or madness (
depending on your perspective), he used what he had available at the time: a box of Krispy Kreme glazed donuts. The sandwiches inevitably became a culinary hit for Vandross and was one of his favorite treats (
hence the original nickname "the Luther Burger").
It must be noted, however, that Luther Vandross suffered from hypertension and diabetes for most of his life (
among the causes mentioned were his eating habits). He suffered a stroke in 2003 and passed away in 2005 due to a heart attack. So it would perhaps be best if my
Espiya brethren think twice before attempting to replicate the Krispy Kreme burger and adding it to their list of favorite foods.
