Author Topic: what would be the advantage of making 4gbs or ram to 8gbs? (Read 2956 times)

naka 2x2gb(4gb) ADATA 1600 DDR3 ram ako and nakita ko sale yung another 4gb to make it 8gb, thinking about getting them to fill up all 4 DIMM slots pero what would be the actual gain of having that much memory?

depends on what you do. sa akin, kulang pa ang current na 6GB ram ko sa dami ng gingawa ko. in fact, medyo nabibitin nga ang OS ko after a few hours (i.e. on ng mga 6pm then iwan ko mga 12mn - pag umaga problemado na), explorer.exe hangs, i cant run a new browser window, windows gadgets crashes, very few apps are able to open (except those that are already open), i can execute a restart since the options menu for shutdown,restart,logoff cannot load anymore (shutdown lang nakikitang option), etc etc

first off, does your OS support more than 4GB (i.e. dapat 64 bit)

second, heavy multi tasker ka ba? more apps eat more resources so larger ram helps

third, do you keep your computer on for long periods of time? as time goes by, the ram consumed by the running os is eaten up and it doesn't refresh until the os is rebooted so having a larger ram can help you stay longer without having to restart

browsing while listening to music while doing video conversion or watching movies/videos or streaming while converting gaming on high settings alt+tabbing during loading screen or minsan i can jus leave a game open and watch while converting all at the same time, nothing as much as you do sir bod, yun din yung isang issue the only copy i have of W7 is currently 32 bit kaya kailangan ko rin talaga ng 64bit na Direct DL like MU or HF links

32 BIT OS supports only up to 4GB of RAM.. while in 8GB RAM in can support the 64 BIT OS...

Before I was using 2gig ram.
I played Crysis then from time to time I check if me update sa FB or mail so ALT+Tab ako palagi.
With 2 Gig minsan I have to wait ten to 30secs to complete the procedure.
Then I upgraded to 4gig = ALT+Tab = no more delays.
Summary: more memory better speed in multi tasking jobs like running virus scan while watching movies at the same time
me naka open na games....more memory more applications you can open simultaneously.

san mo nakita ang sale na yun chief? kano ba score mo kung sakali dun?

i think ok na ang 4gb. useless na din ang 8gb.imho

waste of money kung gaming and surfing lang

bought mine last year for $79 when i assembled my Phenom II X2 rig i currently use eh $49 sya now normal i can get it to as low as $29 from an email offer from the same store i got it, same exact DDR3 model from Frys

dami games na di compatible sa 64 bit. kakadowngrade ko lang from 64 to 32 bit.ok na mga games.

the bigger memory the better, that is what we used to know.

32 bit supports 4Gig but 3Gig usable only.
better have the same size & speed of ram to maximize its potential.

As i know ung mga games na di pwede sa 64 is pwede mo paganahin thru compatiblity mode.. di ko lang sure since all of my games (including emulators) run on 64-bit. ang problem lang is kung yung game na nilalaro mo is for 32bit hindi nya mamaximize ung use ng lahat ng memory. di kasi ako masyado gamer.. pero if you are more on multi-tasking, rendering, video-editing.. then 64bit setup is for you.. and for me (experience ko lng) if you are not much of a multi-tasking and memory hog applications just stay with 32bit.. yung ipambibili ko ng memory iipunin ko na lang pambili ng SSD (in raid)

sabagay ibat-ibang tao, iba-ibang hilig.
ako okay naman ako sa 4gig using 64bit os kaso medyu nasa 40% ng memory agad consumed.
pero contented na ako dun.siguro mg aupgrade ako ang reason para mapuno lg ang slot ng mobo ko

if me cash i would rather buy an asus xonar stx = im more into audio listening kasi hindi gaming.

most games will work, since if its a 32bit game, windows will run the compatibility mode (in fact iba ang folder location ng mga 32bit apps/games from those that run in 64bit)

the only ones that will not are those very old ones

ang important thing lang na tandaan mo is pag install mo ng 64bit, reinstall directx since the one that comes with the OS does not include the older files that are needed to run old games
