Question: What is the difference of a G and N series routers?
« on: October 25, 2010, 12:39:44 am »
Sabi nila ay mas maganda daw ang N series since it can be more accessible over object diversions, such as wood or cement divisions. Kung ganun nga, bakit may mga G routers that are still more expensive than that of the N routers? At kapag G series ba ang isang router, for sure naba na mahihirapan siya makaconnect using the mentioned scenario?

Pros of 802.11n - fastest maximum speed and best signal range; more resistant to signal interference from outside sources

Cons of 802.11n - standard is not yet finalized; costs more than 802.11g; the use of multiple signals may greatly interfere with nearby 802.11b/g based networks.

Sabi jan, mas malaki yung bandwidth na kaya nyang i-cater, at mas malawak ang range, at lesser ang chances na maapektuhan ng interferences like radio freqs, and the likes. Pero since it's the latest in 802.11 technology and it's still being developed and finalized, some devices are still not in line with 802.11n.

I could be wrong, please correct me. I'm not an expert. :D

Is it true na ang G series router will have a hard time in providing signals with solid divisions like having it placed sa second floor then use it on the ground floor?

Wireless G - supports maximum speed of 54mb/s

Wireless N - supports maximum speed of 300mb/s

Even computer is G and router is N mag-co-connect pa din sila.

one more thing kung naka N-series router ka and naka G-series lng ang wifi adapter mo you will be just getting a G connection. so dapat kapag naka N-Series router ka naka N-series adapter ka din..

Cons of 802.11n - standard is not yet finalized

Wow. Thanks sa info bakekong. I know some routers have the capacity to switch between a, b, g, or n.

backward compatible ang mga yan. so pag meron kang wireless N, it can also detect and cater to those with a,b, or g

marami na rin benta na wireless N dito sa pinas. but hindi gaano sumikat ang wireless N because people here will seldom have the need to use the additional speed so they are still using their old wireless G routers. pero syempre in the future puro na rin wireless N yan since ang mga bagong labas na router puro na Wireless N (pero matagal pa yan sa pinas dahil marami pa old stocks dito na puro pa wireless G)

depends on what you mean by the N... there are routers that have the N on them but it is only broadcasting 2.4Ghz signal with the speed of 150-300Mbps this is what we call Super-G router...there are dual band routers that broadcast 2.4Ghz(G) and 5Ghz(N) signal...Why are N(5Ghz) was built? main reason is that wireless phone, television, microwave oven has a signal of 2.4Ghz...let say one of this device is close to the router it decreases the signal as well as the speed of the internet...thats why they created the N(5Ghz) signal so that it would have no problem with signal interferance...by the way pure N(5Ghz) is not backward compatible with G and B since they are not on same frequency... you need to also buy a pure N(5Ghz) adapter for your computer to see the signal...
