I use Western Digital My Studio 500gb with Firewire 400 port.

I'm using a LaCie 1TB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive (designed by Neil Poulton). I bought it simply because of its cheaper price at that time AND by having an on/off switch. However, I wish to have one with a firewire connectivity (sayang firewire port ko't hindi naman nagagamit) but such an option increases its price significantly.

My external HDD has its own power supply and I bought it from Amazon.com. I'm sure where you can buy one in the Philippines (but I'm sure they are selling those there).

Theoretical transfer rates:
eSATA (3Gbits/sec) > USB 2.0 (480 Mbit/sec) > Firewire 400 (393 Mbit/sec)

Looking at the numbers, one can assume that USB 2.0 is faster than Firewire BUT in terms of sustained transfer speed, a Firewire 400 is fairly consistent with its 393Mbit/sec while USB 2.0 fluctuates and slows down with more USB devices plugged in. Thus, based on user experience:

eSATA > Firewire 400 > USB 2.0

For me, bibili ka na lng nga 1TB SEAGATE para makamura ka tapos ilagay mo na lng sa enclosure, if in case masira yung enclosure i pa warranty mo...  kasi kung bibili ka like yung mga WD PASSPORT if in case masira yun if within warranty sya. kailangan mo talaga padala mo ang unit mo sa pinagbilhan mo... (paano kung may scandal ka dun)...

kaya nga mas better if separate mong bibilhin....

hehe meron ako seagate Freeagent Pro 750gb benta ko na sa june



kasi next week bili ako nito Seagate Freeagent Desk 1.5TB $139 tapos may coupen ako sa Costco less $30 so $109 na lang
