The US Air Force claims that the F-22A cannot be matched by any known or projected fighter.

Actually it will replace the F-15 as the air superiority fighter and not the F117 Nighthawk. The F117 is purely an attack aircraft. It solely rely on its stealth and does not carry any defensive weapons.

haha.. ang ganda ng fighter na to.. ang ganda din ng presyo.. wag ng umasa na magkakaron ang pinas nito.. but wait.. Russians claim that they can now shoot down stealth planes with their S-400 missile system.. hehe.. nu masasabi nyo???

sure let them shoot one.... in the first place you have to find one to shoot it, its like shooting vultures with a BB gun.
laffman::      the Russians can claim anything they want but before shooting a plane like that which would cost them alot of trouble!! ALOT of trouble, instead of dreaming one they should try solving the poverty crisis they are experiencing right now! Eat before you shoot!! laffman::

Aaaahhh aaahhh!! they retired the F117A because of this baby please read all the related literature relating the F117A night hawk and to F22 Raptor yup we all know that F117A is intended for ground attack alone and is quite slow and is NOT capable of Air to Air combat because it don't have Radar to guide AAM. But the F22 Raptor is capable of both.

Pero tol pano nga kaya kung totoo? If they can shoot it down, they probably have a way of finding it as well dba? and lets face it.. Russian tech is pretty good and they are not to far behind compared to the US.. The only factor that hinder them is their economy.. And I think we all know that those Ruskies will sell their weapons to anyone, definetly to china and probably to Iran as well.. Kung totoo nga ang claims nila then this will definitely reduce the combat effectiveness of not only the F-22 but the F-35 as well.. Do rememer that no plane is completely invisible to everything.. Kahit yang F-22, it still has an RCS signiture though its very very small..

But the F22 Raptor has more to offer than its stealth. Its avionics, and  weapons systems are still top secret. Ofcourse the U.S. will show the stealth capability of the Raptor. But they are very secretive of what is inside it. Japan is begging the US to sell them the Raptor no matter how expensive they are. But the dilemma is the US does not want the avionics and weapons system to be exported. The Raptor's RADAR can scan with longer range than any other system. It can shoot it's weapons way beyond visual range, they call this over the horizon engagement.

Well I guess your right.. If ever a system that can detect and shoot down stealth planes exist.. you can probably try to attack and destroy them system first.. or just abort the mission and try another day.. either ways you save your precious F-22 hehe.. Also all those anti-stealth things are currently ground based only.. no fighters carry them so the F-22 is still the king of air-to-air combat.. Darn. Im starting to hate this american supremacy.. Ohh but wait.. Not only are the Russiains trying to develop anti-steath technology the chinese are also developing their own stealth planes.. yey!! b*;

Comparing the F117 to the F22 is like comparing apples to oranges. They have totally different roles.The RFP for the Advanced Tactical Fighter Proposal (ATF) to design a new air superiority fighter to counter USSR's SU-27 Flanker (designated the F15 killer but was never proven because there was not a single F15 shot down in combat) was submitted by the airforce to Lockheed/Boeing and Northrop/Mcdonnell Douglas in 1981. The F117 was just deployed in that period still a secret to the public. The F117 was just declassified in 1988.   F22 was designed to replace the F15 Eagle as the air force main air superiority aircraft. People just mistakenly thought that the F22 was designed to replace the F117 because they both have stealth capabilities. In fact that is the only similarity between the two. The reason why the air force are retiring the F117 is it is very expensive to maintain. The F117 will be replaced by Unmanned Combat Aircraft Vehicles such  as the Boeing X-45C and for the Navy Northrop Grumman's X47A Pegasus. These new platforms are cheaper to maintain, can be deployed to highly defended airspace (without any worries of losing a pilot), and are very stealthy.
