Haha alam naman nating pamacho effect tong si Dutertard but this is so low even for him. Even I was disappointed. I didn't thought he'd stoop this low. But hey, we should have expected this from a proud womanizer, killer, and terrorist coddler.

It's not about the religious belief the Pope represents, it is about tactfulness. As a potential leader of the country you don't want him to make careless statements/jokes like that.
I also have to disagree on siding with ideological terrorists because the fact is they are still terrorists. Terrorists who are worse than snatchers and muggers that you have dealt with. Having an ideology doesn't change that.

It's not about religion but respect. I'm an atheist and I know this is a low blow. Pope Francis is the most progressive Pope of the modern age. Dun sa mga non catholic o dun sa mga pro Duterte na nagsasabing old school pa rin si Pope, please do your research about him first. The Irony is that Pope is actually the Duterte of Christianity. And besides hindi naman nya kasalanan kung na traffic si Duterte. Last year pang naka plot yung route nang visits ni Pope, alam na nang mga tao kung san magtratraffic at kung ano yung dapat gawing adjustment.
Para dun sa mga di makaintindi, walang nagagalit dahil nagmura si Duterte, alam naman nang lahat na style nya yun. Kaya nagagalit ang mga tao e maling tao yung minura nya. Gets?

Duterte is running for president and if he wins you would hope that he doesn't make careless statements/jokes like that, not every person takes the high road like what the Pope just did. Remember Sarah Duterte's reaction to Ramon Bautista's "Hipon" joke?
It was a bad joke not because he cursed the Pope but because the curse was directed at the wrong person. If he was angry because of the traffic caused by the Pope's visit then he should have cursed the MMDA Chairman.
Why not curse the INC leaders who incited their members to rally? In my opinion the traffic caused by that rally was far more disruptive than the one caused by the Pope's visit.

Napaglalaruan na naman taumbayan and they don't even have a clue. He has Erap's charisma and Marcos' strategy. He may do some good initially, pero by the time na ma-realize ng mga taong umaabuso na sya, he'll be 10 or more years into his dictatorship and the people (again) powerless to stop him.

Just because you think that Duterte is the best candidate among that list does not mean that he can't be criticized for what he did. You criticized all the other candidates so what is wrong with other people criticizing his action?
As a presidential candidate he has to know that if he wins, he does not only speak for himself anymore but for the whole country.

If he is going to be the president, i think the Filipinos will be facing another "dictatorship" . How can Juan Dela Cruz assure that his own government will not abuse such "Iron Hand" Rule? Or shall i say "Corrupted". During the Regime of ex-president Marcos at first he is doing good but later what happened? A good president should be "pacifist" not an "aggressor". He must be at peace with God and in good terms with every level of society. The most important is that he knows the Phil Constitution like the back of his own hand and never abuse such power invested in him by the Filipino People. Ex-president Marcos almost "fit in" in this category, but the problem then was he "over stayed" his power not knowing the fact that those around him or those "appointed once" already knows how to "manipulate" such power.
Duterte may be good on his own province but my question now is he ready to handle the "peace and order" of the entire Phil archipelago? Does he had the back ground in military or even in police strategies? Can he handle the large organization of the armed forces? Can he get the "Loyalty" of every General in the AFP Staff no matter what happen? Can he handle political pressures? Can he handle the international issues? Can he coexist with his government and the different Churches? If Duterte wants to "Rule with Iron Hand" he must have the "ability" to control the AFP and can coexist with the different Religious Sectors of the Filipino Society. The "secrets" of Ex-President Marcos plus with his good knowledge of "laws". ::secret

I really don't get the sudden hate for the current Pope, I mean no one was hating on him last week on social media. Then all of a sudden a joke by Duterte, which wasn't received well by a lot of people, and you have some of his supporters who curses the current Pope for no apparent reason.
So what did the current Pope do, aside from being the punch line of Duterte's joke, that warrants such hate?
If you want Duterte to win then you should be worried about his words. How many undecided Roman Catholic voters do you think he lost by making a careless statement/joke? The thing is, he didn't even have to make the joke, so why did he? To emphasize his "doesn't give a f*ck!" attitude?
If Duterte wins then you should be more worried about his words because it carries the weight of the whole country.

Look, the problem with filipinos nowadays is that we are too SENSITIVE and quick to judge without knowing the whole story dahil BIAS tayo sa candidate natin.. Kaya hindi tayo umaasanso dahil sa attitude na ganyan. We tend to be blinded with emotions rather than judging the candidate through achievements, platforms and what kind of leader we need to this ailing country.. What we need is a total cleansing, a drastic CHANGE that can overhaul the corrupt system that we have for the future generation to inherit.. We don't need another MEDIOCRE type of president to rule for another 6 years that's way too much suffering to our KABABAYANS here and abroad. NOBODY is perfect, ang kailangan natin ay isang PRESIDENTE na may political WILL and MALASAKIT at hindi SANTO...

So criticizing one of his actions means being completely against him? It can't be that some of us expect some tactfulness for a potential president of the Philippines?
Also he is a dictator in the making, if he wins he will be a dictator he said as much in a recent interview, but if that changes the Philippines for the better then I have no problem with it.

True but you have to admit that you are also biased to your candidate, nobody here is saying he is a saint or needs to be one, at the very least in this thread we know he likes to curse and I have no problem with that but if he is running for president then a little tact will benefit him greatly.
Yes the context was he was actually cursing the traffic in Manila and how it affected the people, but then why not reference the traffic caused by the INC rally (and curse INC's leader in his joke) which was more recent and, at least in my opinion, much more disruptive than the traffic caused by the Pope's visit.
The point is Duterte's supporters should not be surprised that he is receiving some backlash from his joke, he essentially provided ammo for his enemies to use against him. It was more surprising, at least for me, that Ramon Bautista's "hipon" remark received significant backlash and was even forced to issue a public apology for such a common joke from a known comedian.
So a lot of the response here says that if you criticize Duterte you are completely against him (i.e. you don't like him so don't vote for him) and essentially against the betterment of the Philippines. Black and white, no middle ground.
