Unfortunately, that depends on the laptop, if it has a spare AGP or PCI slot where you can "add" devices, not really upgrade them. I have a HP Pavillion laptop, which also runs Vista (btw, i like Vista better) and has greats specs: AMD Turion 64X2 Dual 4.20GHz, 1.9GB system RAM, 250GB HDD.. sounds like the ultimate gaming laptop, right? Wrong. My VRAM is only 64MB, GeForce 7150M. The best game it can run at maximum graphical settings is Half Life 2, it can't even run Halo 2 or Crysis, which is really disappointing. I've asked around (Gilmore and some computer shops here in our place) and they're saying one thing: It depends on the laptop you bought, but most laptops cannot be upgraded.

I suggest, if you're into gaming, buy a desktop instead. It'll cost you around 25K-30K to buy an ultimate gaming PC. Or if you have LOTS of money to spend, buy a laptop that has the latest cards. I think that'll be around 35k-50k, depends on the brand, really.

Anyway, i'm content playing CABAL ONLINE and DoTA;D

mine is also a toshiba satelite m100 series with 512mb RAM but recently i upgraded it to 1.5mb. my notebook is upgradable up to 2gb of RAM. im also planning to upgrade my HD from 80gb to 120gb. check your user manual dude coz upgrading option is discussed there. or better yet call the toshiba center and ask about upgrading options for your notebook. it would be better to have your notebook opened by the toshiba center coz its still under warranty. just buy the gadget and let them install it but ask them first. thats what i did.. un ibang shop kasi naniningil kahit magkabit lang ng RAM memory. sayang din un pera tol pandagdag sa gastusin pang upgrade or pantaxi man lang.. ;D

umm.. i'm not that good sa hardware but i think i have known a little about this. depende po kasi yan sa laptop if expandable sya o hindi. at sa nalalaman ko po, ngayon lang po ako naka encounter ng 502 mb, i think 512 po dapat? i'm quite not sure din po eh. what if, dalhin niyo po yung unit sa binilhan niyong store at ask nyo sila if pwede yung unit for upgrades. i hope maging okay po yung unit niyo. i'm planning din po to buy a laptop na pwedeng gamitin sa video editing at gaming eh. yung prospect ko hp artist edition o 'di kaya hp pavillion, expandable po kasi yung vcard upto 4gb at nice na yung specs kaya parang worth na worth.

Toshiba Information Equipment (Philippines), Inc. Laguna - Manufacturing site
103 East Main Ave. Extension, Special Export Processing Zone, Laguna Technopark, Binan, Laguna, Philippines
    Tel: (02) 809-5183
    Fax: (049) 541-2102

Toshiba Electronics Philippines, Inc. Manila
26th Floor, Citibank Tower, Valero Street, Makati, Manila, Philippines
    Tel: (02) 750-5510
    Fax: (02) 750-5511

or check mo PLDT yellow pages, me advertisement yan sila.. cebu area kasi ako tol.. regarding sa RAM mo 512mb yan, di lang buong 512mb lumalabas.. akin nga if you'll checked it via dxdiag, 1526mb lumalabas.

since RAM lang ang gusto mong palitan, pwedeng pwde yan. you can either add another RAM module (your laptop should have at least 2 slots) or replace the one you are using right now. just make sure you get the correct type. if your RAM is SODIMM DDR 333mhz, you should also get another one like it. If you want to get SODIMM DDR 400mhz, check your manual and see if your laptop can handle it.

ganyan talaga mga notebook akin 1gb cap, yours may have 2gb cap, Santa Rosa and Penryn based MoBos are at the 4gb cap and the newer laptops that use the Centrino 2 based MoBo can handle up to a smacking 8gbs like the the new Toshiba X305 and HP Dv7t series
