running on neutral

mga ka spies, i pass by south road properties in cebu on a daily basis.  there are some portions of the road na going downhill a little bit, so i shift to neutral gear and take advantage of the momentum to save on gas.  is this technique advisable? wala ba itong any potential damage to the engine or any safety hazards?  salamat in advance

yan yung style ng mga jeepney drivers dati pa.. ginagawa ko na din yan :)
add ko na din sa question mo is pano kung automatic ang kotse, kahit ba i-neutral mo na umaandar parin e makasave ka rin ng gas?

Makakasave pag on neutral chief. Yung iba nga lang, pag puro downhill ang kalsada, kunyari pababa ka from Baguio, will advise na gumamit din ng engine brake, yun yung magswitch ka to low gear pag going downhill para di masyado maupod yung brake pads mo.

tingin ko pareho parin yun sa manual kung naka neutral. ginagawa ko yan pag downhill. may mga places dito sa davao na downhill (eg. galing jack's ridge).

at or mt, it's not advisable. even if you're in neutral, it's still connected to the transmission, the engine's still on idle. if you do save gas, maybe 1% lang or even lower. plus, it'll just add wear and tear to you your tranny, as it was not designed for that. plus, it's very dangerous, as it'll be harder for a car to stop pag naka neutral, than when it is engaged in gear.

better to put it in a high gear nalang, 4th or 5th, then depress the gas pedal ng konti.

OT:pareng caros nabuhay ka halos isang taon ka nawala ha namiss ka ng mga tao dito

anyways
well ganito na lng gas or transmission saan ka? ^_^ think twice pero sa presyo talaga ng gas ngayon kapag ngpapafull tank ako pumipikit na lng ako haha!
