See how a jeepney makes a U-turn without regard for other cars

We see this scene every day: A public-utility jeepney stops in the outermost lane of the road to pick up precious passengers, and then makes a four- or five-lane U-turn without a care about other vehicles. And for some reason, this has been such a regular occurrence that we all have learned to just shrug it off. Including the incompetent traffic officers who just stand around and let this happen before their very eyes. The common thought is: Well, they're just trying to make a living. Anyone who dares complain is the villain--out to take away the livelihood of these poor jeepney drivers.

Now, reader Archie Chiang has submitted to us this brilliant series of photos. Presumably sitting in traffic while a jeepney driver adds to the inconvenience, Archie decides to document the infamous U-turn maneuver for everyone to fully appreciate. Infuriating, isn't it?

I'm a jeepney rider myself but it's drivers like these that scare me. You never know if their vehicle will be a conveyance to your destination or to your grave.
