UPDATE GERRY ORTEGA: Investigation conducted on Marlon Recamata Dichavez, 31

CHRONOLOGY OF EVENTS (transcribed from media conference yesterday/January 25, 2011).
* JANUARY 16, 2011 -- Transactions to murder DR. GERARDO V. ORTEGA started in Purok Daungan, Pagbilao, Quezon province, Recamata's hometown.
Recamata was met in Quezon province by ARMANDO NOEL LORIA, alias Jun Loria, alias Jun Salbakuta. This Loria talked to Recamata and told him that his "bossing" wants somebody dead. Recamata asked Loria where this subject is. At this point, several people arrived in the place of Recamata. Seeing this, Loria put his arm on Recamata's shoulders and told him "Tol, sa Palawan."
Then Loria asked "Meron ka bang puwedeng makasama?" Recamata replied "Meron, kung magkakasundo kayo sa presyo".
Recamata went to the house of DENNIS ARANAS, who is also from Pagbilao, Quezon. He told Aranas that they're being invited by Loria in his home. Aranas turned down the invitation of Salbakuta. Instead he told Recamata that it should be Loria who should go to his home.
* JANUARY 17, 2011 -- Loria did what Aranas demanded; he went to Aranas' home with Recamata. When Loria told Aranas about the offer, the latter agreed to go to Loria's home at Purok Daungan to further discuss the plan.
* JANUARY 18, 2011 -- Aranas and Recamata arrived in the house of Loria and had a drinking spree with him. While they were drinking, a man named JUN-JUN BUMAR arrived in the house of Loria. This Bumar was the one who handed P10,000 each to Recamata and Aranas as initial payment. The total amount of the mission to murder Dr. Ortega is P150,000. Bumar also added additional P15,000 as "operational fund".
When asked when they will leave for Palawan, Bumar replied "Bukas kinakailangan umalis na kayo".
* JANUARY 19, 2011 -- Very early in the morning, Loria, Recamata and Aranas left Quezon and arrived at the NAIA Terminal 3 at 9 a.m. But their tickets were for the last trip. They arrived in Puerto Princesa at 6 p.m. via Cebu Pacific.
After arriving here, they went straight to Capitol Side Inn. Loria, however, left. He returned around 9 p.m. and gave the .45 caliber to Aranas. They rested in the hotel until JANUARY 20.
* JANUARY 21, 2011 -- Loria and Aranas started "casing" Dr. Ortega's movements, the areas he frequented, and RMN-Palawan. Marlon remained in the hotel.
On the same day, Loria left Puerto Princesa after he told Recamata about the results of their "casing".
* JANUARY 22, 2011 -- Aranas left Capitol Side Inn first. Then he sent a text message that says "Sumakay ka ng multicab bumaba ka sa San Pedro sa may Mabuhay Lumbers harap ng pet shop ni Doc Gerry".
Recamata did what he was told. He rode a multicab and went down in front of Mabuhay Lumbers, and he saw Aranas in the area but they did not talk to each other. Instead, they communicated through text messaging. Aranas told Recamata in another text message "Yan yong pet shop ng target natin".
Amurao said he asked Recamata if he knew Doc Gerry; Recamata replied he doesn't know their target. Recamata said he doesn't know the target and that "Alam ko lang ang target medyo maputi, esponghado ang buhok matangkad na lalaki".
They staked out the place until JANUARY 23 but they didn't see Doc Gerry.
* JANUARY 24, 2011 -- At 9 a.m., Recamata staked out the pet shop again. He stayed near a Talisay tree to wait for Doc Gerry. At 10:30 a.m. of same day, Aranas sent a text message to Recamata saying "Pre andyan na". Recamata said he knew he's waiting for a car marked with ABS-CBN.
But Doc Gerry's car did not park in front of the pet shop so Recamata sent Aranas a text message that said "Wala wala dito". Aranas replied Doc Gerry was in the wagwagan (ukay-ukay store). Recamata text Aranas that there's police because a police mobile was parked nearby.
Aranas said "Banatan mo na, akong bahala don sa pulis". Amurao said if the polceman came, then he would have been killed too.
After shooting Doc Gerry, he also fired two shots on the bodyguard of Doc Gerry, then he ran. He crossed the street, unluckily for him, a truck of the City Fire Department was passing by. The personnel on the fire truck heard the shots and saw him running. The firemen followed him and put on their siren to alert the public.
The suspect thought the CFD was merely responding to a fire alert. Recamata threw the gun in a trash bin in front of SJD Building (where Beans & Pages is located). When the firemen saw this, they used their public address (PA system) and called on the public to catch the fleeing Recamata because he just shot someone.
Fortunately, the chief of police of San Vicente was at BPI withdrawing cash from an ATM. She heard the alert of the CFD and ran after Recamata. He was cornered near Itoy's. Recamata did not know that the road to SJD is dead end.
INVESTIGATION RESULTS
1. Gun was found by authorities to be under the name of ATTY. ROMEO SERRATUBIAS, former provincial government administrator, who served under the term of former Palawan governor JOEL T. REYES.
* In the media conference, Mayor Edward S. Hagedorn talked about getting an information from a NBI investigator that when Serratubias was first asked, he claimed the gun was just borrowed from him. However, in the investigation that followed, Serratubias already claimed he SOLD THE GUN on JANUARY 15, 2011 to a PERCIVAL LESIAS for P20,000. No deed of sale was produced by Serratubias; he only presented a YELLOW PAPER where transactions details for the purchase of the gun were stated. This is now with police authorities.
* Lesias, according to sources, is an employee of the provincial government. This morning on the radio, 1st District Rep. Antonio Alvarez said he knows Lesias to be a photographer for the provincial government.
* DENNIS ARANAS is said to be a relative of Serratubias. He was seen on the airport CCTV. He served as the lookout before Doc Gerry was killed.
2. Lesias claimed he was only sent to be the gun by ARTURO "NONOY" REGALADO. Again in an interview this morning, Rep. Alvarez said Regalado is a "kristo sa sabungan" and closely associated with former governor Joel T. Reyes. He also said he had been with Regalado many times before in their trips to municipalities in Palawan.
* Amurao said he also knows Regalado to be a breeder of sasabunging manok.
* In the media conference, the family of Doc Gerry cried upon hearing the name of Regalado. Jun Ortega, the brother of Doc Gerry said Regalado is his "KUMPARE", who frequented his home before the shooting about anything, everything. On the day his brother was killed, he said he was surprised to see Regalado in the scene of the crime but Regalado did not go to him to offer condolences knowing they are close friends.
3. JUN-JUN BUMAR was found to be formerly an aide of Marinduque governor JOSE ANTONIO "BONG" CARREON. Sources claimed Carreon is the contractor of the new LEGISLATIVE BUILDING that was constructed under Joel T. Reyes' term. During the media conference, it was also said that he is allegedly employed by Joel T. Reyes in Coron. Authorities are clarifying this.
4. SERRATUBIAS, LESIAS and REGALADO are now under tight custody of the City Police Office. Joel T. Reyes will be called/invited for questioning. Apparently, the former governor is out of the country. ###
