Guys, If I may ask your opinion, Im thinking of buying a console but Im not sure whether I should get the older PS3 or the PS4.
Im not really an avid gamer. I used to be one when I was younger but then, life happened. Now, I just want a console that can be my pass-time during the holidays or whenever I have free time. Should I get the latest gen console (PS4) or will the older PS3 suffice?
I know the PS3 is OLD, but its significantly cheaper and since its a more "mature" console, Im thinking that there are more games available on it and I assume they are cheaper to buy as well. But does it still makes sense to buy the old PS3 now? A part of me wants the PS4 since its the "latest". Is the PS4 really that much better than the PS3? I've also heard that the games for the latest consoles are quite expensive.
So, what do you think guys?

if you can afford the ps4 then go for it... it's a 5year investment more on less in gaming console... eventually support for the older ps3 will lessen and disappear just like what it did with the ps2...

Bro, PS4 user here. Never akong nagka PS3. Hehehe! Ganito na lang, sabi nga nung isa kung afford mo PS4 then go for it. Mas okay to dahil updated ang console na to at more than 4 yrs pa ang next generation ng console pati yung graphics ng mga 60fps na game eh imbaness talaga sa PS4 like the never ending super duper great THE LAST OF US. Since rarely or occasionally ka lang maglalaro, edi mag PS4 ka na. One time big time na game kunin mo. Eto mga talagang needed game bilang PS4 user.
1. The Last of Us - Remastered (Game of the Year. 60fps. The Walking Dead ang peg. Zombie Apocalypse. World War Z)
2. GTA V - Remastered (Game play is more than 30 hours. Game of the Year. New first person mode. GTA Online)
3. Destiny (First person shooter. Mostly Online)
4. Dragon Age Inquisition (Fantasy game. 90+ hrs of gameplay lol)
5. Plants v Zombies: Garden Warfare (family oriented game. 2 player coop/couch)
6. Diablo III: UEE (hack and slash game)
7. FIFA 15 (sports)
8. UFC (sports)
9. just dance 2014/15 (need ng camera, motion sensor. family oriented)
10. blacklight retribution (free sa r1 accounts. barilan to the max. online only)
11. nba 2k15 (syempre!)
12. shadow of mordor
13. little big planet (family oriented game 2coop/couch)
14. CoD: Advanced warfare (barilan ulit)
15. driveclub/need for speed rivals (name it self. karera naman. online/offline game)
16. the evil within (mala silent hill)
17. ac unity (although maraming bug, okay pa din. sabi nila lol)
so on so forth. hehehe! more incoming games next year syempre. inaantay ko FFVII remastered. tsaka kingdom hearts 1-4 remastered

kung RPG gamer ka, mag ps3 ka muna, mas malaki library at by the time na maubos mo yun, may pera ka na pangbili ng mas mura na at that time na PS4. Kung ikaw yung tipong katulad ko na walang pake sa NBA at barilan na hanggang < 50hrs repetitive gameplay lang hahaha.

Right now im leaning more to the side of the PS4.. ang hesitation ko lang talaga eh yung price. I dont want to spend to much on a gaming console that i'll only use every now and then. Magkano ba on average yung mga games sa ps4? Tska maganda ba bumili sa datablitz?
sa ps3 nmn. For the price of a ps4 I could get a ps3 plus a handfull of games already so parang mas practical.. kaso yun nga, luma na.. gano pa kaya katagal ang support ng mga developers sa ps3? ayoko naman bumili ng ps3 ngayon tapos gugustuhin ko din bumili ng ps4 next christmass dahil hindi na available sa ps3 yung games na gusto ko..
Anyway. Maraming salamat sa mga nag reply.. other inputs will be much appriciated..

Eto take ko ha. Alam naman natin na mahal talaga ang PS4. Pero kase, yung ps3 na bnew naglalaro 11-12k. tapos yung games nila na 2nd hand nasa 300-1k. yes makakabili ka nga ng maraming game pag ps3 binili, problem is hindi mo naman malalaro sabay sabay.
in the end, i'm soooo biased na hinihimok kang bumili ka ng ps4. hahaha! mag 2nd hand games ka na lang. naglalaro ng 500-2k. yung mga bagong labas na mga 2months old na game 1.5k-2k ang presyo. sagad yung 2k mahal na yun. tapos ang bilhin mo yung tipong gusto mo talaga. mag focus ka lang sa isang game muna. pero bumili ka na rin ng isa pa incase hindi mo magustuhan yung isang game but i doubt hindi mo magustuhan yung prinefer ko sayo. ang bnew ng ps4 BASIC PACKAGE ay 18.5k-19k. +6-8k ka na lang ps4 na. hehe! 2 years sony warranty na pala yan. mahalaga pag bibili ka yung sony warranty para may peace of mind.

1. drive club (mala gran turismo. online play only)

dami pa ring naglalaro sa battlefield 4 dahil eto ang alam kong pinakamaganda sa lahat ng FPS game. yup 80% ng may ps4 eh naka subscribe sa ps+. naka 3mbps din ako sa bahay. smooooth sa diablo 3, gta online, blacklight retribution at fifa 14. wala sa bilis ng internet yan, nasa PING ika nga. na try ko yung diablo 3 tapos host yung friend kong nasa US tapos yung isa sa CANADA, smooth ang game. parang naka LAN lang. by the way naka PLDT ako. either PLDT/bayantel. magkakaroon ka ng problem pag ISP ng globe/smart ginagamit mo dahil sa NAT TYPE connection.
3mbps for multiplayer FPS.. no sir, too much lag potential haha

sino pala may experience sa inyo sa datablitz? Ok ba bumili dun? Yun kasi pinakamalapit na tindahan sa location ko. I live outside of metro manila.. hassel kung luluwas pa ko para bumili ng games. ;D ;D

Anung naging prob mo sa datablitz brod? Taga laguna ako, 15mins drive lang ang nearest branch ng datablitz.. may itech ba dito sa laguna? Or kahit alabang man lang? Baka may alam kayo na maayos na bilihan dun. Hassel pag sa manila. Traffic lagi. Haha.. about sa games naman. Parang gusto ko yung dragon age.. nilaro ko din yung dragon age origin sa pc dati eh.. basta more on rpg siguro tska racing..

Kung may budget ka din lang mag-PS4 ka na. Mas tahimik kasi ang console ng PS4 kesa sa PS3 at much better ang gaming resolution at 900p/1080p HD resolution. With regards to CPU and RAM, Sony na ang nagsabi na 10x mas powerful ang PS4 kesa sa PS3. Pareho ko ng nagamit ang dalawa at narito ang ilan sa pagkakaiba...
1. PS4 - 8-core CPU, PS3 - single-core CPU
2. PS4 - 8GB of GDDR5 RAM, PS3 - 256MB of DDR3 RAM
3. PS4 - DualShock 4 Controller, PS3 - DualShock 3
Kung out of budget ka naman at minsan mo lang gamitin eh PS3 na lang ang piliin mo. May advantage din naman ang PS3 over PS4 pagdating sa pagiging media machine at wireless streaming.

Bibili na sana ako ng ps4 kahapon.. may itech din pala dito malapit samin kaso wala naman stock. Hahaha.. pasko daw kasi kaya nag kakaubusan.. oh well more time for me to think about it then.. bka sa january nalang din ako bumili.. hirap makipag sabayan sa mga holiday shoppers..

i havent had any personal experience yet since wala pa ko Xbox One pero gamers say FPS games seem to be better on Xbox One hehe, again im not biased on both consoles since ive had both per generation so if you do want to get a PS4 do so hahaha

anyway, isang game lng muna ang binili ko.. infamous: second son. so far so good.. isa-isang game muna para natatapos. Tska nlng ako bibili ng iba..
What i dont like about it? Kailangan pala ng ps+ for online play. Akala ko parang ps3 na libre.. for me hindi sulit dahil hindi naman nga ako heavy gamer. Will stick to single player games nlng..
question pala.. sino ang may nfs rivals? Pag walang ps+ pwede ba yun offline?

Yeah nakita ko kanina sa mall yung w700b, mas maganda pala sya compared sa R302B & samsung. ;D
Full HD, x reality motion flow 240 hz under a 32 inch tv. then price is OK naman at 24k. ;D
but as i check youtube mas OK daw laruin ang PS4 sa 40 inch plus TV or more para ma appreciate talaga yung resolution. hehehhehe
then i'd still go with w700 since sa kwarto lang ako maglalaro soon para walang istorbo sa bahay. ;D
