SWS: Aquino's ratings now back to 'very good' category
« on: September 25, 2011, 10:45:07 pm »
President Benigno Simeon Aquino III's satisfaction ratings have gone back to the "very good" category, after seven of 10 Filipinos surveyed expressed satisfaction with his performance, a new poll of the Social Weather Stations (SWS) said.

SWS, which released its findings Monday on media partner BusinessWorld, said Aquino's new rating was six percent higher than his 64 percent rating in June.

The results of the survey conducted September 4 to 7 meant a 10-point gain in Aquino's net satisfaction rating to a “very good" +56 (percent satisfied minus percent dissatisfied) from June’s “good" +46.

In contrast, only 14 percent were not satisfied with Aquino's performance. This figure is four percentage points lower than the 18 percent "not satisfied" rating Aquino received in June.

The SWS said net satisfaction scores of +70 and above as “excellent"; +50 to +69, “very good"; +30 to +49, “good"; +10 to +29, “moderate", +9 to -9, “neutral"; -10 to -29, “poor"; -30 to -49, “bad"; -50 to -69, “very bad"; -70 and below, “execrable."

Improvement in Balance Luzon

Aquino’s rating increased significantly in Balance Luzon, where his net satisfaction rating rose by 22 percentage points to a “very good" category of +63 (74 percent satisfied, 10 percent dissatisfied).

In the previous quarter, Aquino's rating in Balance Luzon was only under the “good" category at +41 (60 percent satisfied, 19 percent dissatisfied).

In the Visayas and Mindanao, Aquino still received “very good" ratings at +52 (70 percent satisfied, 18 percent dissatisfied) and +55 (68 percent satisfied, 14 percent dissatisfied), respectively.

While there was a two-percentage point drop in Metro Manila, the result remained in the “good" category at +41 (61 percent satisfied, 20 percent dissatisfied).

Improvements to “very good" scores were recorded in both rural and urban areas:
+64 (75 percent satisfied, 11 percent dissatisfied) in the rural areas from +47 (65 percent satisfied, 18 percent dissatisfied), and
+50 (66 percent satisfied, 16 percent dissatisfied) in the urban from +45 (63 percent satisfied, 18 percent dissatisfied).

Socioeconomic classes

Aquino recorded “very good" scores across all socioeconomic classes, led by a 14-point gain among the masa (D), where his net score rose to a “very good" +58 (72 percent satisfied, 14 percent dissatisfied) from +44 (63 percent satisfied, 19 percent dissatisfied) in June.

It was four points higher at +52 (66 percent satisfied, 13 percent dissatisfied) among the class E.

Despite a five-point drop, it stayed “very good" at +53 (69 percent satisfied, 16 percent dissatisfied) among the class ABC.

Improvements to “very good" were also recorded among both sexes: Aquino’s score rose to +58 (71 percent satisfied, 13 percent dissatisfied) among women from +43 (62 percent satisfied, 19 percent dissatisfied) three months earlier, and hit +54 (69 percent satisfied, 15 percent dissatisfied) among men from +49 (67 percent satisfied, 17 percent dissatisfied).

The latest SWS survey involved face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adult Filipinos nationwide. Sampling error margins of ±3 percent for national and ±6 percent for area percentages applied to the survey. - VVP, GMA News
