::laffman

And your point is?

If you have any knowledge on how "combat vessels" are built, you'll know the Hamiltons are far from being "parang passenger ship"..  ::) ::) ::)

itong barko na ito is used by US coastguard before.

but if you look closely sa mga modern design ng naval ship nowadays frigates, destroyers for instance lahat neat, clean looking malinis na yung external, kasi most of the armaments are located internally..

even somali pirates napag kakamalan nilang civilian cargo vessel  yung naval ships na design ngayun.

but don't be fooled a single modern destroyer escort can sink a typical naval armada used during the world war 2

Lets clarify things.... its not a world war 2 battleship with big guns like the japanese ship " yamato" or the us ship " missouri" .. those big guns on big ships will not survive against a modern ship with anti-ship missiles and carrying helicopters that can launch anti ship torpedoes . naval ships now use small guns that is rapid firing auto loading against small ships and in close encounters and have air components to double the punch

Those are destroyers the Hamiltons are Frigates and so is the next 2 new purchase that's in the pipeline. The PN needs to get use to handling bigger and modern warships by starting with the Hamiltons and the next frigates, destroyers will be somewhere 10 years down the line.

biglang napunta sa gobyerno.. do you even know why the hamiltons was acquired? Do you have any idea on the current situation and operational requirements of the philippine navy?

And how exactly does the hamilton resemble a "passenger ship" ? Is it common for passenger ships this days to have CODAG engines? Can you easily equip advance sensors and weapons to a passenger ship? Coz you can with the hamiltons..

if your point is that we should have bought something better.. please lang.. educate yourself. There are major reasons why we cant.. you do realize that before the hamiltons, the only frigate we have is from the world war 2 era.. Simply put, even if we have the money to buy advance ships, our navy dont have the necessary skills to operate and maintain it..

Good Spy ... those pictures really look good for a guided missile warship for the russian navy... but keep in mind our ships are formerly from u.s. coast guard not from u.s. navy ... we will be upgrading it to navy standards and they will be good enough to familiarize our navy men with modern systems  .. we will be buying two naval frigates and you will be happy they will be not as civilian ships but mean looking warships

This is indeed a very powerful vessel compared to WW2 ships. But compared to today's?

thing is.. it was never meant to go toe-to-toe with other warships. The hamiltons were not  acquired so that we can finaly fight in equal terms against china or taiwan.. They are a stop gap solution, so that the navy will have a vessel capable of PATROLING our maritime teritories  as well as serve as a TRAINING platform to prepare navy personels for upcoming, hopefully better equiped, vessels.

@Good Spy

Natawa nalang ako..  ::lmao ::lmao ::lmao ::lmao ::lmao ::lmao ::lmao

And as you've said, "kung gagastos talaga ang gobyerno".. Again, do you even know the reason why the hamiltons was acquired? ( I've already said it on the post above yours)

I rest my case.. smoking:: smoking::

No,Hamiltons were used outside the US in drug interdictions its a suitable in heavy seas. It was fitted with SSM's before and its just a stop gap to train the Philippine sailors for the next two modern frigates in the pipeline now.

I'm not entirely sure about this but I think--just think, mind you--that appearance means little in combat. Performance is what counts. If the ship can do whatever job for which it's meant, then appearances don't really matter much, do they?
