A Home-Style Meal With Hope On The Side

A good number of my fellow Espiyas may have already seen this piece of news on television or online but I thought it would be worth sharing with the Republic in any case. So many times we've seen celebrities flaunt their material wealth or become disillusioned with the lives they lead so it's always good to see someone who's reached the pinnacle of their personal fame and fortune recognize the blessings they've received in their life and decide to give back to their own community.

About a week ago, rock legend Jon Bon Jovi--a proud native of New Jersey--and his wife Dorothea Bongiovi decided to open up a charity kitchen for the less fortunate in his hometown which they called The Soul Kitchen (after The Soul Foundation which the two of them established). The concept behind the charity kitchen is similar to the "Honesty Cafe" in Batanes that we're familiar with but there's a slight twist to the idea.

For more information regarding The Soul Kitchen (especially for those Espiyas in and around New Jersey who might want to drop by the place), here's their web address:

If any Espiyas in the area do get to eat there, please let us know if the food and the service was good!  ;D
