) To know the basics of English is enough to qualify for the tutor position but as you go along, you would need to arm yourselves with more than just the basics...otherwise students will feel your incompetence and later on look for better tutors who can provide better lessons.
In my experience,native American accent could be an edge. Japanese students are aware of the Filipino accent and some would not prefer it as they would want to be groomed to be native like speakers.
But as of now, you could try applying because the opportunity to earn a lot is very huge. (even better than what full time workers can get). You can improve your English skill in the long run anyway.
This is a good work experience and a good way to earn money but keep in mind that this must not only be your motivation in teaching. You must have the passion to teach to acquire loyal students.
