Topic: Internet Cafe Robbery

On January 9, 2010, at around 3:30 a.m., an Internet cafe along Laong-Laan in Sampaloc, Manila (between Maria Cristina and Don Quijote across from 7-11) was robbed by four males riding a tricycle with a green sidecar (according to the color, it may be a Blumentritt or Sta. Cruz TODA vehicle). All four suspects wore black caps, black jackets (one had skull markings all over it); two carried knives and two had handguns (although they might be fake since the handguns were colored silver). They made off with the wallets and mobile phones of the patrons--one of them, unfortunately, being me. This incident occurred after my last post that day (see Introducing...Millicent if you wish to fix an approximate time for the incident). As if that wasn't bad enough, a young woman on her way to work was also robbed by the suspects when they happened upon her immediately after robbing the Internet cafe.

Let this be a warning to all Espiyas living within the Sampaloc and Sta. Cruz areas who patronize twenty-four-hour Internet cafes. And if there are any Espiyas in that area who are law-enforcement agents, kagawad, and tanod, please be on the lookout for the suspects but take note that they are most likely armed and dangerous. Be alert and stay safe.

I think I know that shop and, yes, as far as I know they've been robbed previously.

If there hadn't been some other people in the shop aside from the owner and myself, I would've tried being a hero. It's not as if I still have much left to lose after the past nine years. Dying while fighting off a robbery would've been an acceptable way for me to leave this world.

dati me computer shop akong pinapasukan diyan, ako kasi yung technician nila and at the same time ay ako rin yung nagbabantay... and yes same location din, sampaloc din!

may pumasok na limang binatilyo lang, nasa mga 14 yrs old lang ang age, and isang matanda na naka t shirt and short lang at naka rubber shoes

naghanap muna ng load, sabi ko walang load dito, pero naghinala na ako kasi yung mga porma nila nasa gitna sila lahat and single file, tapos yung isa humawak sa pintuan... then sabay bunot ng baril yung matanda and sabi walang gagalaw hold up ito sabay tutok sa ulo ko.... man, ganun pala feeling ng tinututukan ka ng baril sa ulo, nakaka black out kasi alam mo anytime isang galaw lang nya ng gatilyo sabog ang ulo mo...

so kinuha nila mga cp ng customers pati mga alahas, yung isang babae ayaw ibigay yung singsing niya kaya hinila ng binatilyo yung kamay niya, then parang alam nila kung saan nakalagay yung pera kasi pumunta agad sila sa table na may drawer, and yung phone pinutol nila yung line.... within a minute lang nakuha na nila yung mga cp at pera ng mga customers, then pinatayo nila kami at pinapunta sa isang side while shouting ng walang susunod kasi palabas na sila...

paglabas nila, yung isang customer nilabas yung cp nya at suwerteng hindi nakita sa kniya so tinawagan niya tatay niya, dumating agad yung tatay niya na may mga kasamang mga tropa na naka motor ( mukhang astig ) then kasama ako nilibot namin yung espana at recto at sampaloc hoping na makikita ko yung mga holdaper, kasi namumukhaan ko pa...

and eto pa ang masaklap.... bago dumating yung tatay na tinawagan ng customer, tumawag muna kami sa 117 and nireport agad namin yung nangyarin hold up sa shop, langya after ng 45 minutes nakita namin sa di kalayuan yung dalawang pulis, naglalakad na parang hindi nagmamadali, tapos tinanong lang kami ng " anong nangyari "?

sobrang inis ko nasabi ko tuloy, " wala kayong service sir? paano natin mahahabol yung mga holdaper eh kanina pa po nangyari yun? " hindi sila sumagot kasi mga mukhang tolongges yung mga pulis, tiyak pa nga siguro na kasabwat mga hayup na yun eh...

noon lang ako nakaranas ng mabagal na serbisyo ng pulis..... hahaha imagine nag report ka ng emergency tapos makikita mo yung reresponde naglalakad lang ng parang nasa luneta, at after 45 minutes pa bago dumating... 

kaya naniniwala akong diyan sa bandang sampaloc maraming holdaper ng shop diyan, advice lang na yung see thru nilang mga pintuan ay wag nilang lagyan ng mga poster para kita ng mga tao sa labas ang nangyayari sa loob ng shop, mas madalas kasing puntirya ng mga ito ay yung hindi nakikita yung loob ....

The door was free from any posters and--having checked this out myself a day later--the robbers could be seen from the 7-11 across the street which had an armed guard. One of the other victims, in fact, was even trying to signal the guard from where she sat. Unfortunately, either the guard couldn't see her or he deliberately ignored her. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he didn't see her. Plus I suppose he didn't want them going after him if he intervened, armed or not.

if you are just renting the place and your landlord / landlady lives adjacent to where you are, t to buy those wireless doorbell and put it conspicuously.  instruct the one on the receiving end that should it buzz, he / she should call the cops.  make sure though the buzz sound is not heard from where you are and from where the would-be criminals will be.  likewise, check on the battery regularly but inform those at the receiving end, prior to such testing, that it is indeed a test.

mabagal kumilos mga pulis?  solicit the help of your barangay watchmen / tanods.  baka mas mabilis sila makaresponde.

Mas maganda pag my 24 hour shop ka. Yung regular customers mo na lang papasukin mo at ilock mo na ang pinto from the inside. kung my spare webcam mas maganda un for safety and evidence. Para sa mga pulis natin, kahit ayaw natin igeneralize natural na yung late sila dumadating. himala pa nga ata pag may nakaaksyon agad kung mayroon man eh poging pogi ang dating nila sa mga tao dahil rumesponde agad sila. Systema ng kapulisan ang kailangan palitan. Matutuwa siguro ang mga pilipino kung mala 911 ang responde ng pulis sa atin. Hindi rin naman natin sila masisisi kasi mababa ang pasahod at ang mga benefits nila ay hindi katulad ng naibibigay kagaya ng ibang bansa. Ingat na lng tayo mga kapatid.
