Pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. has had precious little to say about the fight the public has demanded for years, a bout with Manny Pacquiao -- until Friday night.
Mayweather said during a Showtime interview that he wants to fight Pacquiao next and wants the fight to be May 2, the Cinco de Mayo weekend that Mayweather has regularly fought on.
"We are ready. Let's make it happen. May 2. Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiao. Let's do it," Mayweather said in the interview in San Antonio, where his promotional company was putting on a boxing card.

He fought Maidana last 09-13-2014 he needs to defend that belt other wise it will be declared vacant , so May will be a great date for him he ( Mayweather ) still has a month to go to look for a boxer he fought for a small profit just to defend his belts

nope... sir zenzuke101 is right... althought the ppv earned for both mayweather and pacquiao bouts had decreased in sales in both fighter's last 2 fights, it is unfortunately still mayweather who has more ppv per match...

FINALLY! THE MEGA FIGHT IS ON.
After six long years of back and forth from both camps, and weeks of online teasing, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. agree to get it on in the same ring for a whopping P10 billion pesos, or $250 million, according to GMA News.
According to the report, both Manny’s and Floyd’s camps have agreed that the fight will be held most likely on May 2, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. They have also agreed on other arrangements such as the eight-ounce gloves that they will wear, and the pre- and post-fight drug testing. It is said that the US Anti-Doping Agency will oversee the random drug testing, while the Nevada State Athletic Commission will take care of other matters.
Report also says that Manny has “100 percent signed his side of the deal†while Mayweather will be signing in a couple of days. Apparently, it is also likely that Mayweather will make the official announcement at the NBA All-Star Game tip-off!
