I just don't understand it when informal settlers (to be polite) are interviewed for television and they admit that life is hard here in Metro Manila but then when they're asked if they would like to return to their provinces, they decline because they say life is hard there too. Is there some kind of bragging rights to be had when you say you're struggling to survive in Metro Manila as compared to saying that you're struggling to survive in, say, Samar?

During one episode of Motorcycle Diaries, Jay Taruc and the other people who run the program helped one family living in the streets of Tayuman to return to Bulacan. I can only wonder if they're still there or if they came back here.

Hirap kasi sa karamihan ng mga skwater alam naman nilang hindi kanila yug tinitirhan nila tapos ang lalakas pa nang loob na magreklamo at mag feeling naaapi. Sila na nga yung Pinagmumulan nang madaming problema sila pa yung nagdedemand na panagutan sila nang gobyerno, kakapal nang mukha.

There's gotta be some law that once settler had been settled they cant sell their title and go back to being a professional squatter,it should be punishable with fine and jail time.

Ang nakakapagpalala nito eh yung mga opportunista na "fake" land owner na nangongolekta ng upa/protection money mula sa mga skwater. Dapat sila ipakain sa mga langgam. Syempre pag ganun, ang reaction ng skwater ay nagbabayad naman sila at bakit sila pinapaalis.

Nakakatawa na nakakainis pag nakakarinig ako ng skwater na nagbabayad ng upa sa kung sinuman.
