MANILA - Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has withdrawn his certificate of candidacy (COC) for mayor days after he announced his intent to run for president in the 2016 polls.
Duterte went to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Davao City Friday morning to formally withdraw his mayoral bid.
He was accompanied by his daughter, Sara, but as of this posting, it has been confirmed that Sara will substitute for her father.
On Saturday, Duterte said he has decided to run after the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) voted against a petition to disqualify Senator Grace Poe on the grounds of her citizenship.
