Repair HDD Bad Sector or Not?
« on: February 10, 2014, 11:51:27 am »
so my 7 year OLD Seagate 320gb HDD finaly gave way this week by causing multiple BSODs and AppHangB1 errors including a number of Lockups where the mouse still moves but nothing else does until the HDD resumes activity when it just suddenly stops reading

luckily my cousin gave me his Spare Samsung 500GB HDD kesa gumastos pa ako ng P1500 to P2500 on a new HDD, sabi nya in a few months pag nagassemble sya papatulong sya sakin yun na lang daw kapalit nung HDD

the Seagate still runs naka Storage mode na sya now nakakabit sa PC but when it was in OS mode sobra misrable and for the past year or so lumalabas na talaga sa bootup ang Bad Sector warning so alam ko eventually mamamatay na to BUT i can still use it as as spare HDD if i can fix it

so anyone got any ideas HOW TO REPAIR BAD Sectors and what Software to use?

ito yun SAMSUNG HDD na abuloy sakin and i slapped on a Vantac HDD cooler ive had for years and found at my aunt's house

"HOW TO REPAIR BAD Sectors" - you mean physically repairing surface errors? Most HDD repair software including Windows' chkdsk, when they say a bad sector is repaired, it is just marked as bad, so that they will not be used by the OS. If you want to physically repair bad sectors (magnetic errors), try mo "HDD Regenerator" http://www.dposoft.net/hdd.html. Medyo mahal nga lang. Pwede mo subukan muna yung Demo version.

Oo nga. Tingin ko wala na pag-asa. IMO overtemp lang yan dahil sa spin retry. I bet dikit-dikit bad sectors nyan.
