The two brand-new Strategic Sealift Vessels (SSVs) worth more than P3 billion acquired from Indonesia would allow local shipbuilders in the Philippines to manufacture the same type of vessel.
According to Philstar reports, Defense Assistant Secretary for personnel Efren Fernandez has recently visited PT PAL Surabaya shipyard in Indonesia, bringing along with him the shipbuilder from Cebu as an observer.
“During our inspection of the PT PAL Surabaya shipyard, the Indonesian shipbuilder agreed for technology transfer and hopefully we can locally build our own Navy ships in the near future,†Fernandez said.
The first SSV for Philippine Navy is expected to be delivered either late this year or early next year.

is the govt funding this?
-
-
kung governement man sana make sure na mapupunta sa tama ang funds.. baka makurakot lang at walang magawa..
-
PH vs China Warship
China = Warship made with Low Quality Cheap and fake materials
-
laffman:: magagalit mga pulitiko neto mawawalan sila ng kick back
-
-
I believe after the technology transfer, we can design on our own in the future..
-
well kung maging serious talaga ang government natin (budget)
in my opinion kaya, kailangan lang muna ng technology transfer and ideas from the start and from then makukuha na natin yung diskarte and technique.
primary sealift vessels very usefull for military and humanitarian but not as complex as aircraft carrier hinde natin kaya and wala tayong ilalagay na eroplano!
ang dami sa pilipinas na mga skilled technicians, welders, engineers yung nga lang nag aalisan to work as OFW
the point is when it comes to manpower skills may source tayo, location ng shipyards meron din..
corruption ang malaking problem sa atin talaga.

with the amount of raw resources, and the quality of professionals with a lot of ideas, we could certainly produce or even develop new technologies. The only problem is that, the government cannot provide the funds and rather sell our resources to other countries, which could have produced jobs for our professionals for that reason some of them chose to work abroad because of lack of job opportunities here. The irony is that we produce those workers here, we send them in other countries, and the products or innovations that they created are being imported here for us to buy. In addition, we train foreigners then after they have learned, those foreigners improved what they have learned and sell the finish products to us. Just a specific example, IRRI, but still we import rice.

i believe once we know the technology that we can do it... the problem is the bureaucracy in our government... i know us pinoys. once we see and learn something, given the proper resources, we can better what we had seen....

may pera o funds naman kasi
ang question saan napupunta
-
1. We have supeskilled workers na galing sa ibang bansa na nag-uuwian kaso babalik dahilan yung iba walang oppurtunity dahil discriminate sila ng mga HR kaya babalik ulit sila sa ibang bansa
2. we have tons of raw materials
pero may magsasabi na wala tayong alloy for armor ito ang sasabihin ko kahit gaano pa yan kakapal ang armor ng isang barko walang kwenta (Bismark and Tirpitz) or kahit gaano kalaki yan like (yamato and musashi) lulubog pa din yan

I know somebody from a shipyard in cebu , He is involved in the design team of the shipyard and he honestly believe we have the technology for this kind of all purpose ship maybe not the specialized war ship . We can learned and do it there only they did not have a chance to prove it.
He is now in malaysia still involve with ship building as well as about 20-30 of his friends , he told me we have the know how but not the funding better in other asean countries
-
sad but it's true

My company before was hired by a ship builder in subic as a third party Quality inspection for their luxury yachts owned by a private company based in Australia...
materials primary steel normally acquired from japan, korea, russia
its interior including accessories and appliances all come from europe
the facility and labor, by our local skilled technicians, welders and engineers all we have to do is follow the design blue print and work procedure.
from my observation kung ship building lang ang pag uusapan kayang kaya natin gumawa ng sariling atin
simply because yung training, text books, mga authors ng libro mga work procedures na sinunsundan natin eh galing din sa kanila! (western countries)
lamang lang sila sa Research and Development and they have the latest tools and equipment, but provided with tools, softwares and blue print capable tayo.
Ang nakikita kong problema sa bansa natin is corruption and red tape and walang political will or long term program!
