'Pacquiao fights my leftovers' – Mayweather
MANILA, Philippines – Floyd Mayweather Jr. is criticizing the boxing media and fans for what he believes is unfair criticism of him.
In an interview with BoxingScene.com, Mayweather complained that boxing critics attack his competition, but praise Filipino boxer Manny “Pacman†Pacquiao when he fights the same competition.
"When I beat fighters, they say they are too small, or too slow, or over the hill. But when he (Pacquiao) fights the guys, he gets praise for it," Mayweather said. "I fight them first and then he fights my leftovers."
Mayweather said that he fought and defeated Oscar dela Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Shane Mosley before Pacquiao did, but he received negative feedback for his victories.
He then complained that Pacquiao received praise for defeating the "older versions" of the fighters.
"If you guys (boxing media) want to write, just tell the truth, that’s all I ask," Mayweather said.
Mayweather is set to end his 16-month break from boxing against Victor Ortiz on September 17, while Pacquiao will face Juan Manuel Marquez for the third time on November 12.
