: The Brazen Immorality of MERALCO
: guto ebarg! March 07, 2006, 01:51:23 PM
An unpublished letter to the Inquirer Editor:
Every MERALCO subscriber should look at his monthly electricity bill and notice an item there which reads "SYSTEM LOSS". My bill carries something like P250-350 a month depending upon my total consumption. System Loss is simply the amount of power lost by MERALCO to illegal tapping and unauthorized connections. Every paying MERALCO customer should realize that he is paying for electricity being stolen by society's free-loaders: those who use jumpers, those who connect illegally and those who pilfer electricty from MERALCO distribution lines occasionally or habitually.
That line item in my monthly bill is always increasing. This means that MERALCO is not apprehending violators. Why should it? All system losses are paid for anyway by suckers like us, so what's the incentive for MERALCO to go after the cheats? This is the brazen immrality of MERALCO. Not only is it swindling the honest paying subscribers, it is encouraging the cheats to flourish. You go around your neighborhood. You'll see illegal conenctions everywhere. Shanties that are structually unsafe for electrical connections have all kinds of electrical gadgets, most likely powered by stolen electricity that I and people like you are paying for! And yet, you default in paying your bill and like clockwork, some MERALCO men or hired contractors would come around and disconnect your electricity. Where is the logic, the justice in this? It is adding insult to injury. This act of immorality by MERALCO has got to stop. Isn't there anything we can do about it?

tell me this....

As in snail mail at email tayong lahat.
