Hindi po gagana kahit merong caller ID capability and software ang modem or device mo. It had to be activated yung caller ID features sa Telco.

Solution: Subscribe for a Caller ID feature or Request to replace your number or cut you landline and replace it with cellular phone which is by default caller id feature is activated.

P50 additional lang ang caller ID, nde mo magagamitan ng pc software and phone since even the NBI or AFP need the help of the telecom in order to get information such as number of incoming call and the location, RELEASING any software or even creating one that will allow u to find out who is calling u is against the RIGHT TO PRIVACY, so upon ur subscription to a service in order to find out who is calling u, u then agree to a service/policy from the telecom provider and allowing them to screen ur calls via INCOMING CALLER ID, remember ung wire tapping issue with HELLO GARCI? caller id is under those protected laws

buy an answering machine so u can screen ur calls, kc its psychological, if tumatawag sila then lagi mo sagot ganado sila manloko, is u cant afford the additional payment, the answering machine will answer calls for u so if u know important u answer it, if not and naghang so what diba just ignore it, eventually mananawa din yan since that crank caller no longer has control/power over ur ability to answer the fone, knowing na may naiinis sa ginagawa nila is the "drug" they enjoy, pag alam nila nde ka na naiinis titigil din yan

Seems there's a contradictory to your statement. I think knowing who's calling you is not againts Right to Privacy but wiring tapping does really against the LAW and Right to Privacy.

When i signed up for my mobile subscription, it didn't states there that activating my caller id through my cell phone is againts the LAW.

Caller ID devices or software is not related to Wire Tapping Act.
Caller ID is for protection/warning while Wire Tapping is invasion.

Remeber the ILOVEYOU virus. They caught the programmer through Caller ID. Read Below:
Trapped by Caller ID

Ayre said the virus was uploaded to Sky Internet's servers via another ISP, Impact, in two parts beginning April 28, and that the phone numbers used to upload the virus matched a number banned from Sky Internet on April 1 for hacking into their servers. The phone numbers were traced back to the apartment using Caller ID.

"We can conclusively trace (the break-ins) to that number," Ayre said. He also says that phone records at Sky Internet and Impact "matched up perfectly" to point to raided apartment.

Ayre said a European ISP notified Sky Internet of the virus, and it was quickly disabled. That portion of the virus affected only about 2,000 people worldwide, mostly in Europe and Asia, he said, and the company is in the process of notifying all of those victims.

"If he was smart," Ayre said, "he could have used one of the smaller ISPs that didn't have Caller ID."

No Offense, Peace Out!

Yup, there is an option for subscribers where they can opt for their numbers not to be published. Which means, it shouldn't be in the phonebooks or shouldn't be showing up on caller ids. Now, if your number appears on any of the two mentioned and you opted for your numbers not to be published, this is a violation of your right to privacy. toast::

The NSA does have this kind of software, no more private conversation too.
National Security purposes only.
but for your case I suggest that you wait till the unknown caller rings your phone then shout "WHAT THE F*CK DO YOU WANT?!!!!"

caller ID lang talaga. un lang. hehe ;D pag tumawag sha then irecord mo ung number. then gantihan mo. kung pwede ireport sa telco ireport. kung may harrassment, sa police. nde un masasayang kasi lahat ng tumatawag e malalaman mo ung number. (sorry not all pala kasi pag international calls minsan nde nagaappear and phonebooths)

Edi yung mga cellphones natin eh "against the RIGHT TO PRIVACY" din pala. Tama po ba? hehhe laffman:: caller ID is different from wire tapping... ang wire tapping po kasi, nakikinig ka sa usapan ng iba, that's why nasabing "against the RIGHT TO PRIVACY" yun. ang caller ID po, e parang sa cellphone lang po yan. makikita nyo yung number nung tumatawag sayo. at wala naman pong privacy na nilabag doon...  bnana
