Public Health Advisory: Safety of Phenylpropanolamine

FYI lang mga espiya, alam nyo ba na according sa The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) lahat ng medicine containing phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride (PPA) - Ito'y kadalasang ginagamit as a nasal decongestant (in over-the-counter and prescription drug products) and for weight control (in over-the-counter drug products) ay nakasasama sa ating kalusugan? Dahil ang PPA daw ay nag-iinduce ng Hemoragic Stroke (Bleeding of the Brain). Ilan sa mga gamot sa Pilipinas na merong PPA ay:
- Alkaseiltzer
- Dimetapp
- Robitussin
- Dexatrim
- Bioflu
- Sinutab
- Decogen
- at ang sikat na Neozep.

matagal na ang news na yan

galing pa sa States ang news kaso lang negosyo sa Pinas yan oe wla pang cases kaya hindi pa nila pull out yung ingredient

Yup that's true... matagal na yang news na yan... But from what I knw nireformulate na rin ang mga decongestants dito sa Pinas. If you'll notice, the Decolgen and Neozep preparations now contain Phenylephrine instead of PPA. Sinutab however still contains PPA as well as the pediatric preps like Disudrin and Bioflu.

Wala naman tayong magagawa jan kasi walang research talaga jan. Dapat aabutin ng YEARS para lang magawa yang research na yan. Pero sino bang tanga ang magsasara ng sarili niyang produkto di ba? ^_^

PPA has a tendency to induce hypertension (high blood pressure).. kaya ang outcome is hemorrhagic stroke (ruptured vessel in the brain; a ischemic stroke kasi is baradong ugat in the brain).. kaya we MDs take care in prescribing PPA to hypertensives...

buti ako tubig pag me ubo at sipon.pg purong sipon gawain ko punta ako nyan ng chowking,
bili ako ng chicken noodles with extra chili oil/chili sauce and presto!sarap nun higupin!maanghang na masarap na nililinis
ilong ko!

pg ubo naman tubig din bro.medyu hinihintay ko muna na medyu kumapal ang plema then sabay inom ako nyan malamig na malamig na tubig and after 5 secs pinilipilit ko umubo(sabay pilit ilabas ang plema)and presto = medyu kaderder mala bola na plema nalabas but good new in a span of 1 or 2 days wala na ako ubo.i dont take medicines eto palagi ritual ko and it works for me!  :D :D :D

basta sipon, and wala naman kayo known illnesses, safe naman gumamit ng PPA... ingat lang pag may high blood or sa may idad na... the best and cheapest is still plain water... 6-8 glasses per day and more (Water therapy kumbaga  ::)) the bulk ng sipon and plegma is still water, kaya pag dehydrated ka, matigas ang plegma ng ubo...
