BDO credit card & their scam
« on: July 20, 2014, 08:33:29 am »
I'm a new BDO credit card user (ever since Citibank ako). Ang nakaka inis na e binibigay nila ang personal details mo like name & cell phone # sa kanilang mga ka tie-up kuno na mga companies like ManuLife insurance, meron pang about sa travel Agency kuno. Ang problema ay mag papakilala sila na sila ay from BDO and they just need you to answer like your birthday and lastly your card # so that you can avail their insurance. Shame on you BDO! Kaya advice ko sa inyo stick to your credit card companies na subok na and never try BDO credit card!  >:(

heard a similar story from a friend of a friend,, same set-up, an insurance company something called him up asking for detailed information on his birth date and such... the next thing he knew, a bill was sent to him,, he went to BDO to complain but nothing happened,, the next thing he did was cancel his credit card,,

matagal na akong merong BDO credit card (nag expire na nga last 2013 yung isang card), wala naman akong na experience na ganyan. naloko ka lang talaga kasi kung taga BDO talaga ang tumawag sayo they will NEVER ask for your card number (why would they? they already have it), ang itatanong sayo is yung security question na nilagay mo sa application like mothers maiden name (since their goal is NOT to know your card number but to establish your identity as the owner of the card).

eto lang tandaan pag may mga tumawag sa phone, always ask whats the call about. kung credit card man, ask why are they calling instead of sending SMS, or email bakit kailangan pa itawag kung mag iinform lang ng promo or something (an automated SMS,email is going to be way cheaper and faster). most of the time yung mga tumatawag na yan hindi talaga from the credit card company, mga telemarketer lang yan. marami na tumawag sakin dati (although wala pang related to BDO), i always ask kung ano ang purpose ng call, pag sinabi na promo or something, automatic not interested ang sabi sabay baba ang phone. they are telemarketers they wont bother calling again, they will just go to the next name on the list

also every transaction sa credit card na suspicious (i.e. yung nangyayari minsan na down ang system so ilang beses naiswipe ng establishment ang card para lumusot), they will send SMS to your registered cp number AND/OR they will call dun sa registered CP number.

it happened to me before yung caller nagulat ako tumawag sa office namin akala ko customer or client namin dahil alam nya kaagad yung full name ko, and started asking about my personal info right away!

i asked him kung bakit gusto nya malaman the guy started to make an alibi, then he tried to engage me in a casual conversation pero i've noticed na isa isa nyang tinatanung yung personal details again na parang kwentuhan lang.

i know the guy is fooling me at nag sisinungaling sa akin nag salita ako ng hinde maganda then binabaan ko ng phone!

and lastly your credit card number that's more of a social engineering scam. Never ever give out your credit card number.

kahit yung ganung klaseng tanong iniiwasan kong sagutin dahil dun niya pahahabain yan.

Back then, people actually dumpster dive for "precious" carbon used in printing credit card transactions.  Business establishments do keep copies of the transactions but do throw out the carbon which will clearly show details of a customer's credit card info.

Nowadays, what is printed is the first four and last four digits of a credit card number.  You can use programs that "guesses" the missing numbers.

parang sa online games lang yan, wag ibibigay password or any personal info kahit kanino.
since binigay mo birth date mo saka CC number mo, malaya na sila gawin lahat ng gusto nila, more or less.

I think the point here is that they call you, made an offer, you accept by saying yes. If you don't want it just say no and bye bye.

The problem with card holders is that they will say yes to every offer then complain later when the bill arrived.

Every voice transaction is recorded by the company especially your precious "yes" which is their best evidence againts you.

Credit card helps me a lot, pati puhunan ko sa business galing sa card, 95% of my purchases through credit card.

It is just a matter of saying yes or no. Ganon lang ka simple ang transcation, the problem is there are people who can not say no to a charming voice over the phone.

sir 250 pesos a month and you agree with it. Yung sa akin sir walang sinabi kung magkano nag bil ng 1,290 without my approval. Isa pang question dyan sir what if may mangyari sa ito, paano ma claim yung insurance mo? Wala naman kayong pinirmahan na contract? Just sa phoneang, mahirap din sir di ba?

Even sir I said yes wala namn silang presyo na ibinigay. Yung iba ditto nag yes and they are billed 250 pesos a month. Sa akin walang sinabing price and yet they billed me 1,290 pesos? That's why I dared them to review are telephone conversation.

One piece of advice tuwing may offer ang card company. Ikaw ang dapat magtatanong kung ANO, PAANO, at MAGKANO wag mong hayaang sila ang mag interview sayo dahil in the first place hawak na nila ang information mo in advance, what they are trying to do is to verify kung ikaw talaga ang kausap nila.

Isang mahalagang response mo lang ang hinihintay nila and that is "YES" that is the equivalent of your signature in a transaction.
And always remember walang offer na free sa card company.

At kung ipapareview mo sa kanila ang voice transaction, you will be surprised because they give you all the chance to ask but you just say YES.

The point here is why does BDO gave my personal info to other companies without my permission? And why is it up to now, if you googled this kind of problems with ManuLife & BDO eh wala pa silang ginagawang hakbang to stop this kind of irritating racket? Is it obligation of BDO to protect & serve the public especially their clients? So that's why for BDO is self serving who think only for themselves.

ang problema kasi dito is information theft. as far as i know hindi manulife ang insurance na dinadala ng BDO. never ako inalok ng BDO with manulife. last na inalok nila sa akin is Generali.

=====

and recently, na-aprubahan yung BDO credit card ng sister ko, now ang dami daming telemarketers na tumatawag dito looking for my sister. kung ano-ano ang inaalok. samantalang palagi lang nasa bahay sister ko dahil sa 7 months ng walang trabaho. kung kailan nawalan ng trabaho saka naaprubahan yung credit card  ::laffman

personal info ba kamo?

Twice nilang ginawa! Kaya talagang gancho ang Manulife na ito! Manu-nuba ng mga tao and BDO accept them a their part partner? >:(

btw, ang isang pwedeng gawin sa mga ganito is sa BDO kayo magreklamo sabihin na via phone yung nangyaring transaction and walang pinirmahan. dapat pwede ipacancel ang transaction na yan kasi walang pirma na nangyari so it can be considered as an electronic purchase (i.e. internet purchase) AND hindi pwede gamitin for internet purchase yung regular credit card ng BDO, meron silang separate card exclusive for internet purchase. mapapansin mo yan if you try to purchase anything online, irereject yung regular BDO card. never lulusot yan.

yung ibibigay nila na for internet use na card is kulay blue, it has a different card number and cc code. so technically different card siya (pero supplementary siya ng regular card so they share one billing and one credit limit).

so since walang pirma na nangyari, this transaction can be considered and electronic or internet purchase. so pwede niyo ireklamo yan sa BDO. wala namang mapapakita na pirma yung other side for sure unless may iforge sila. yung other card is supposed to be used only when a physical card is needed, while the blue one is used when a physical card is not needed (i.e. hindi na need iswipe or pumirma)
