Topic: 10 dead as scaffolding in Makati building collapses

(UPDATE) MANILA, Philippines – At least 10 people were confirmed dead while a still undetermined number of people were feared dead or injured after a scaffolding on a building that they were working on collapsed in Makati City today.

Reports quoted Police Chief Superintendent Froilan Bonifacio as saying that the incident occurred around 11:45 a.m. from the 34th floor of the 40-storey Eton Residences on the corner of Paseo De Roxas and Gallardo Street in Makati. The building is currently under construction

Bonifacio said the scaffolding at the building's mezzanine landed on the seventh floor.

The building has already been cordoned off by police.

Rescue teams from the Bureau of Fire Protection are recovering the victims' bodies as of posting time.

Ang Eton Properties ay nasa control ni Mr. Lucio.  Nun ginawa nila Mr. Lucio ang structure sa kanto ng EDSA at Quezon Blvd sa QC, I happen to take a photo of the on-going construction work as herein attached which shows how they treat the workers - walang consideration sa safety.  No wonder, may tendency bumagsak mga scaffoldings ng mga construction works nila.

this is fault of safety officer or safety engr, loading capacity of this metal platform is just 2-4 person not more than this, they must count people who load this platform serves as elevetor. there shuld be a sign. Last yr i encountered the same thing it collapsed due to overload, you cant imagine how they look right after the incident, i have this guts to get & declaired death people who are still have chance to live. buttom point safety is always the front in all daily activities.. Safety First!... dapat mag paliwanag ang safety officer dito not the construction firm:-)

i think its a service elevator not a scaffolding,
