Hi Sir, I run a computer lab for students, I guess shit happens. Just dont forget to backup the files next time. Here are the things you can do for now. I use backup software application like Easeus Data recov wizard or Recuva. Pero I think we need to resolve the problem of the computer not recognizing the missing file drive. If the files are really important to you. You might want to go to a professional HDD file recovery specialist.

have you tried on a different computer? baka kulang yung power na bigay ng USB port kaya hanggang blinking lang siya

or try using a different cable, yung Y cable (dalawang USB port) it will allow the external drive to get more power from the USB port

pag ayaw pa rin, next step would be a bit drastic, baklasin yan and ilagay direct sa mobo and see if its detected

But the culprit really on my unit is the cable, di sapat yung power na nakukuha, so i bought a new one and tried and it's working again. If everything else fails, then it's time to disassemble your hd as suggested...

balutin mo po ng tela na makapal o kaya ng towel, then ilagay mo po sa freezer for 5 to 8 hours, then i try mo ulit isalpak sa computer mo. if ma read mo ang mga files, backup mo agad, kasi masisira din yan agad. next time gamit ka bro ng cloud backup para sa mga project, thesis or any files mo na important.

There is no "foolproof" storage.. the idea of storage itself is insecure. smaller chances lang na may leakage  kung local copy lang na encrypted + password protected.

Depende naman kasi ang security mo kung saan mo gagamitin yung cloudstorage mo. if you think you're files are sensitive such as scandals, money matters etc. much better lagyan mo ng encryption, else kung mga school project lang naman yan kahit wag mo na lagyan ng security, wala naman mag nanasa dyan malamang,

if your portable drive used platters, then pwede mo ito itry, pero kung yung phdd mo ay parang ssd, then di yan gagana.
