MANILA - Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte denied plans to run for the 2016 presidential election despite ads showing support for him.

Duterte was in Taytay, Rizal over the weekend to attend a symposium on federalism.

At one point, Duterte covered his face with a plate after supporters started shouting his name.

The mayor denied that he is behind a TV ad that seemingly endorses his possible bid for higher office.

He said he will only run if he surpasses Vice President Jejomar Binay's current ratings in the surveys.

"Ilan ba ang score ni Binay ngayon? 32? Kung mag-82 ako, tatakbo ako."

the problem is we all know that majority of surveys are manipulated in favor of the ones funding it... i find it hard for duterte to topple binay in surveys particularly here in metro manila...  well, maybe if we will have a survey done in davao then i'm sure duterte will most probably come on top...

tatakbo yan for sure pero part ng laro yan, maganda ang strategy niya kasi the more nagclaclamore ang tao, mas magandang publicity pero basta ako boboto lang ako kung tatakbo siya kung hndi, hindi ko sasayangin pagod ko

I beg pardon of my Espiya brethren who support Mayor Rodrigo Duterte but he's starting to come across as a garden-variety traditional politician to me. I've always thought him to be someone who says what he means and means what he says and stands by it come hell or high water. To see him waffling like this is disheartening, to say the least.

well nababawasan na at least ang mga bobotante sa pilipinas. unti unti so its still a progress though very very slow.  its either Roxas, Poe for me. Duterte if hahabol man sya.
