In a democracy, the end does not justify the means, last tuesday CGMA and her husband where not allowed to exercise their right to travel as guaranteed by the constitution and as upholded by the Supreme Court TRO. The bill of rights is for everyone, its for the rich and the poor, the powerful and weak, the good people and the bad people, the convict and the freeman. Kaya nga kahit sa mga criminal na nahuli on the act eh binabasahan pa ng rights ng apprehending officer. What we should consider is that the TRO issued by the Supreme Court is an order to be complied with, its not open for interpretation, even by the secretary of justice. If the Secretary of Justice thinks that something is amiss with the TRO he/she should take the necessary steps to question it via filing a motion for reconsideration. But doing so does not give him/her the power and/or authority to defy the order of the Highest Court of the Land. What they have done is make a very dangerous precedent that if the executive department feels like ignoring a supreme court ruling as they see fit they can and they will. God help us all, last Tuesday's Event marked the end of our country governed by a government of laws instead we regressed to become a government of men.
Let me make it clear that I'm not Pro-GMA I'm just Pro-Justice. I want everyone, every political leader from the Ramos Administration to the present to be held accountable if they have in one way or the other, committed any ill acts and crime against our country, but we have to do it with due process and in accordance to our laws. No one is to blame for this legal mess but the present administration themselves. If they were only doing their jobs properly, studied and filed the necessary charges beforehand then a warrant of arrest and hold departure order would have been issued a long time ago. Senator Jinggoy Estrada hit it on the head that during the time when his father was overthrown in a matter of three months the Arroyo Administration was able to charge them and have them arrested. Why this administration took a year and a half to do I do not know, when in fact, they can do it in a day as what we have witnessed today.
I just pray, that the charges that the DOJ and Comelec have filed in haste will withstand the court's scrutiny so that justice can be done and let all those who are guilty pay for their actions. If this case end up in acquittal Pnoys administration has no one to blame but themselves.
