cancer-causing foods
« on: March 02, 2009, 01:31:41 am »
The top five cancer-causing foods are:

 1. Hot dogs
Because they are high in nitrates, the Cancer Prevention Coalition advises that children eat no more than 12 hot dogs a month. If you can't live without hot dogs, buy those made without sodium nitrate.

 2. Processed meats and bacon
Also high in the same sodium nitrates found in hot dogs, bacon, and other processed meats raise the risk of heart disease. The saturated fat in bacon also contributes to cancer.

 3. Doughnuts
Doughnuts are cancer-causing double trouble. First, they are made with white flour, sugar, and hydrogenated oils, then fried at high temperatures. Doughnuts, says Adams, maybe the worst food you can possibly eat to raise your risk of cancer.

 4. French fries
Like doughnuts, French fries are made with hydrogenated oils and then fried at high temperatures. They also contain cancer- causing acryl amides which occur during the frying process. They should be called cancer fries, not French  fries, said Adams .

 5. Chips, crackers, and cookies
All are usually made with white flour and sugar. Even the ones whose labels claim to be free of trans-fats generally contain small amounts of trans-fats.

oo nga lahat ng inihaw ay carcinogenic

No not lahat bro... yung part na nasunog na yan yung carcinogenic...

daming myth dito...
tulad ng Vetsin it is not that harmful na fertilizer ng Cancer it is not din bro... it is MSG it is Monosodium Glutamate
which is only single molecule of sodium (which can be found in  salt) plus glutamate...

ako lahat ng carcinogenic gusto ko like the part ng BBQ na sunog.. Hotdogs...processed meat etc...I don't care.. kasi lolo died eating like a Rat kahit anu kinakain fatty foods drinks alcohol etc he died at the age of 82...

well ako satisfy na ko sa ganyang age... I don't want to die na 102 or above naku... its misery na yan!

gusto ko yung makikita ko apo ko na ako ang natutuwa sa kanila hindi na pinag kakatuwaan nila ako!

Based on the information provided by an article summarized by Asanti, the said food products are considered as cancer-causing due to two factors: (a) the presence of high concentrations of nitrates and/or (b) the presence of acrylamides.

Here are some facts:
1) Nitrates (e.g. sodium nitrate and potassium nitrate) are indeed mutagenic. You can actually test that yourself by means of an Ames test [my students have indeed performed this test]. However, one must take note that there is an increasing effort in removing these compounds in food products. As such, instead of sodium nitrate as a preservative, more and more processed food product are now using citric acid as an alternative.

2) Acrylamides are indeed mutagenic and carcinogenic...hence the reason why when we are using these compounds for PAGE, we take great lengths in safety precautions. However, based on the article published by Pelucchi et al. (2003) at the International Journal of Cancer, they provided "reassuring evidence for the lack of an important association between consumption of fried/baked potatoes and cancer risk"

who the hell is Adams?

Mike Adams.... journalist and writer /author of health books .... i saw his article in the news letter of of the south beach diet of Dr Agatston

Even me I like all the cancer producing foods mentioned here, but maybe its true " masarap ang bawal ".. funny but true
moderation is the key.. nobody want to die while depriving himself of life's goodies

DO YOU ???
