i m looking for my personal files like my documents, my pics, my music etc... they have the orig reformat as if it was a brand new comp but the issue nga is nandun parin sa C drive memory ang used space which is all my saved info meaning hindi na deleted pa and thats what i am trying to get back

i have done the system restore and it wont let me restore it to a previous date except dec 9 which was yesterday when i accidently nga did system recovery not system restore and plus i also tried the search function and it can't find the files even hidden...but the problem is if that was actually deleted how come my memory in the C drive is still the same as it was before i even did the system restore kaya if i am not wrong here i believe my files are still intact to my HD dba? so kung there are still other ways to get them plz let me know i really need help thanks

open the documents and settings folder

you should see some folders... with one folder similar to your current account but it has some extra characters. open that folder. andun yung mga old files mo

what probably happened is that you are using a new username in windows kaya yung mga old files mo, hindi mo na makita

ano ibig mong sabihin i did that opened "documents and settings" through C drive i checked the folders and they all have the same content and i still can't find it eto ang ginawa ko i  pressed F10 on boot which launched & started the System Restore feature.  From what I understand, HP creates a partition on which it keeps the Win XP image in case the OS gets corrupted.  Is there any way that the information that was on the hard drive before the system restore utility was run can be recovered now? meaning in short the C drive memory was the same before the system recovery and after so does that mean my data is still intact dba?

if im not mistaken the restore shouldnt have deleted your files. it just reinstalled your OS. so your old files should still be there. so check the documents and settings folder. that is where ALL files like my documents for ALL users are stored (which would also include the previous user)

however, if the restore formatted your drive before it reinstalled the OS, then your old files are gone

kasi pag nag system recovery ka, lahat ng files sa hard drive mo mawawala. di ba tinanong ka naman before mo work yung system recovery, didba? system restore is also a dangerous thing, kasi kahit kung minsan pag may application sa past na date, tapos kunwari gusto mo mag install ng software, mostly pa naman ng mga software ngayon kailangan mo restart system mo para magwork diba.lalabas ngayon na error, kailangan mo muna close yung previous application para mag work yung kakainstall mo na software. kaya guys, if i were dont use system restore if its not necessary. kaya sa guy na nag post nito, mag create ka nalang ng isa pang partition para dun mo save yung mga important files mo, para sa next na macorrupt system mo, then gawin mo uli yung system recovery, yung main hard drive mo lang ang mafoformat. yung isa, safe kasi parang external hard drive mo yun. konting ingat mga friends.. thanks...

kung nabura yung files ko, bakit yung memory used ng C drive ko is the same before i did the system recovery? ibig sabihin ndi pa nabubura yung files di ba? tama din si wazzupbabes tinanong nga ako pero it said that it will not delete the data kc i didn't do a destructive recovery but instead i did a non-destructive recovery...so in other words i want to restate that i did a standard recovery which does not delete my data unlike the full system recovery that deletes the data

ok then check the documents and settings folder. pag wala dun, it means system recovery made a backup of all your files. hanapin mo yung folder na pinaglagyan

are you using a HP laptop?
if so..ganyan ang design ng HP ngayon starting from PAVILION dv4000 to dv6000 series eh mey separate partiton na ang HDD mo exclusively for HP SYSTEM RECOVERY..di mo ma-access yun from windows itself..
so ang nangyari dyan eh total system recovery from the day it was release from the assembly plant or the day na una mong binuksan yan..
not unless you did have a separate partition for your files/docs,wala na mga yan..better try sofwares for recovery..theres a lot of it thru the net..kesa nman magpakahirap ka pa mag isip kung asan na mga yan..recover mo na lang..

yan ang downside ng HP ngayon, like wazzup had said, you have to make your own recovery disc..
un lang po..
