Will Napoles’ senators follow Biazon’s lead?

It's disheartening to see a good leader leave government when the administration was already making gains in good governance. But Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon simply showed that there are still a few good men in our government who practice delicadeza.
Biazon said it well when he said that even if he still hasn’t been found guilty of the charges filed against him on his alleged involvement in the Pork Barrel Scam, he decided to tender his resignation because he feels that his continued stint in government will just become an additional burden to President Noynoy Aquino. He further added that he is at peace with his decision knowing that his sacrifice will be beneficial also to our country. A good public servant knows when it is time to make a huge personal sacrifice for the greater good of the country. Hopefully, when Biazon has proven his innocence, President Aquino will once again tap his services.
The question that lingers in my mind now is will our other so-called “honorable†Congressmen and Senators follow Biazon’s admirable lead or will they continue to hold more tightly to their positions? Sadly, I don’t think any of these lawmakers who were also implicated in the Janet Napoles’ Pork Barrel Scam will have the courage and honor to even consider taking a leave of absence from their office while the investigation is on-going. What is even disgusting is that one Senator even used his position to harass Commission on Audit (CoA) Chairman Grace Pulido-Tan during last week’s CoA budget deliberation before the Senate. This particular Senator who is accused of plundering hundreds of millions of pesos even had the gall to accuse Pulido-Tan of using government funds to travel abroad where in fact it is the duty of CoA to also visit and audit our embassies to ensure that government funds in these diplomatic posts are spent properly.
Biazon was charged with malversation of public funds to the tune of less than P2 Million and without even waiting for a week to pass he immediately files his irrevocable resignation while Senators Pogi, Sexy and Tanda are charged with plundering our country with almost a billion pesos and yet they continue to not only stay in their air-conditioned rooms in the Senate but they continue to use their office to intimidate the various government agencies that have uncovered their shenanigans and pinned them down. With Biazon’s shining example, perhaps now would be a good time for us to also demand the same delicadeza from the three of them and ask them to at least take a leave from their position. This is after all the most honorable thing to do for our leaders especially when there is strong evidence (credible whistleblowers and audited financial reports) to already suggest that they indeed took part in this whole Pork Barrel Scam.
But then again, I’m sure all of you will agree with me that this is simply wishful thinking. As my former teacher always told us in high school, “Wala namang mawawala, libre namang mangarap.â€
