Cagayan town eyed as naval base for US troops
« on: August 24, 2013, 06:18:32 pm »

TUGUEGARAO , Philippines – The coastal town of Sta. Ana in Cagayan is being considered as an ideal naval base for American troops to help counter China’s assertiveness in the West Philippine Sea.

Sta. Ana Mayor Darwin Tobias said he has no objection to host visiting American soldiers in his town, adding it is strategically located near the disputed sea.

“We need the support of allied countries that could help us preserve our sovereignty and security amid the bullying from powerful countries,” Tobias told The STAR yesterday.

He said the temporary deployment of US troops in Sta. Ana could provide livelihood as well as business opportunities for its residents.

Sta. Ana, previously known as Barrio Palawig, used to be a part of Gonzaga town, which was cited in history as the location of Japanese forces on Dec. 10, 1941.

After the war on Oct. 21, 1949, then President Elpidio Quirino issued an executive order creating the town of Sta. Ana.

smoking:: seriously after this "China's bullying" will our Government keep US troops in our soil? or kick them out again?

we only need them in times like these , we only use them to protect our own Country while we the Filipinos knows that we can protect our selves and gave our troops the right equipment and resources they need to protect our own mother land

in short User tayo , frankly speaking yes we are

The only means to earn money fast and no education or training needed.

On the support side in protection sa mother land natin, is well indeed need talaga natin yan. So weak anf ating forces at current state.

For sure madami pa rin ang aayaw at madami rin ang may gusto. Ang tanong lang naman, ANO MAITUTULONG MO?

Prostitution is always there even if we station filipino troops not american, some of this women's groups will protest but even they can not deny that in so called religious places prostitution is big business. it will be good to have americans there and maybe with combine training we can upgrade our soldirs also.
