"Papirmahin na natin ng kontrata si Ting!"
"Bisaya ka, day? Sabi ko na nga ba, pag Bisaya, tulad ko, magaling!"
"I like your voice..."

These comments are not only heartwarming but totally pride-rocketing. And Christina "Ting" Otero surely deserves no less than those words. Ting is currently vying for a spot in the final 12 of the First Philippine Idol.

Who is Ting Otero and why is this space spent for her? Last Saturday, sept, 9, 2006, right after her amazing (for lack of the most apt term) astounding, better-than- ever performance, right after judge Francis Magalona said that SHE should sign a contract right then and there, judge Pilita "Mamita" Corrales asked if she was Bisaya, Ting, still breathless from singing, energetically answered, "Korek, Mam, from Matina, Davao City!" And then Mamita added how Bisayans are truly talented, just like her.

There. Yes, This space, this article is dedicated to our fellow Dabawenyo who is making a noise, a buzz in the field of singing - NATIONALLY - and putting Davao in another nationwide spot of excellence.

Ting hails from Matina Davao City and is a medical representative by profession. She graduated from the University of the Philippines in Mindanao . She has been singing ever since she could remember. From leading the National Anthem in grade school to belting current hits and hits of her favorite singers in college, and even afterwards. She never had professional voice lessons, so it is pure, raw talent that courses through her veins.

Other than holding a microphone and singing her soul out, she's also fond of dancing (and quite good at it, mind you). She was a model student who can juggle studies, extra-curricular activities, organizations, sorority and even kicking balls - I meant football, as she belonged to the UP Min Ladies' Soccer Team. Normally, she's just talking her tonsils out.

No, she doesn't have any lucky charms but she has her parents as the heroes she looks up to. She has her friends who believes in her and her talent. She made it to the top 24. And who knows, she can be the first ever Philippine Idol! She can be Davao 's next top star, if given a chance. Star material? You bet! This fun, no-nonsense, witty lady is a total performer.

A call to all Davaoe?os: Let's all make TING the very first Philippine Idol and put Davao City in the Idol Phenomenon! On Saturday, at 9pm is the wildcard competition for the final 4 (2 from ladies and 2 from gents). Your votes would mean Ting would land a secure spot in the final twelve bringing with her Davao 's pride. Text TING to 2339 on Saturday from 11pm (upon Ryan Agoncillo's cue) and will end on Sunday, 8:30 pm .
Results night will be on Sunday, September 16.

So mga ESPIYA! specially mga taga davao!!! supporta ta ani bay!
