Q>Which is a better RAM (laptop) to have?
« on: March 26, 2013, 06:15:57 am »
Good day mga spies. I recently bought a laptop Toshiba L840 (specs below).

Specs:
Win7 Home Premium 64bit
Intel Core i5-3210M
AMD Radeon 7670M (2gb) (updated driver)

Tapos no'ng pinaupgrade ko (sa mismong shop, same day as bought) yung RAM from 2gb to 8gb (4gb x 2), I recently noticed the following differences between the original/pre-installed RAM and the upgraded one (Kingston).

Setting under the original 2gb in RED, under the upgraded (4 x 2gb) in BLUE

1. DxDiag Display Approx total memory: 2.8gb; 1.7gb
*However when the single 4gb of Kingston was tried Approx. total memory became 3.8gb

2.CPU-Z, Memory results (original ram with 798.3 MHz, upgraded RAM with 665.2MHz)

3. Specifications on the label: 2GB 1Rx8 PC3-12800S-11-11-B2; 4GB PC3-10600 CL9 204-Pin SODIMM

Salamat :D

mas mabilis yung original ram BUT 8GB beats out 2GB every single time. so kahit mas mabilis yung original na 2GB ram, having 8GB is still the better option

the difference is very minimal and you will most likely not even notice it

Thanks sir bodieph.

Another question po. Naging 3.8GB po kasi siya when I tested using just one of the 4GB rams.

sir, have you tried testing both rams individually? if yes, does same output lng po bah? kasi, i check naman yung OS mo, supported po naman ang up to 8gb. home premium 64bit supports up to 16bg(source: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproperf/thread/5a518386-27a8-46fa-a85a-678b7c25358e/)

dpat po kasi, mag update tlaga yan ng more than 5gb sa dxdiag. if sira po naman, dapat po replace nyu ang ram. sayang naman kasi ang pera nyo.

Kaespiya, try this one, this one works for me (This will only work in Window 7/8 64Bit OS)

to fix the memory detection problems type in msconfig go to boot, advance and unchecked number of processors and maximum memory, this will definitely fix the memory detection problem.

Meron din kasi akong 8GB of RAM and I think na-encounter ko na yung ganyang problem.

by the way i have a gaming Laptop and the my Unit Brand is MSI GR620DX +HD, all of there gaming Laptop's have 8GB RAM's pre-installed by default so noong una nagtaka din ako bakit 4GB lang nag na-detect sa RAM,
so I just did the above procedures and it works!  toast::

I looked at the advanced window, unchecked naman parehas.

ngayon try mo

I was able to find the correct value sa advanced settings ng display (Screen resolution>advanced settings). Dito, 5.5GB na yung approx. total memory.

Pero, papapalitan ko pa rin ng 2x4GB (PC3-12800, 1600MHz) yung RAM para 800Mhz na yung frequency.

Thanks to all who helped.
