Filipina actress Marife Necesito has a breakout role in the sexy love-triangle movie “Mammoth” in which she will play the role of a nanny.
“Mammoth” directed by critically-acclaimed Lukas Moodysson, is the first English-language film of the Swedish writer-director.
The movie also stars Mexican actor Gael Carcia Bernal of the award-winning movies like “Y Tu Mama Tambien” (And Your Mother Too), “El Crimen del Padre Amaro” (The Crime of Padre Amaro), and Academy and Golden Globe Award nominee Michelle Williams of Dawson’s Creek and Brokeback Mountain.
The movie’s plot revolves around a love triangle between a businessman (Bernal), his wife (Williams) and the nanny (Necesito).
Necesito, a respected actress on stage, film and televisison passed a rigorous audition to bag the plum role, besting other respected local actresses in the “Mammoth” tryouts, including Alessandra de Rossi, Chinchin Gutierrez, Joyce Jimenez and seasoned theater and screen thespian Pinky Amador.
In the film, Marife plays Gloria, a mother of two sons who leaves the Philippines to work as the nanny of the daughter (Sophie Nyweide) of a successful New York couple, played by Gael and Michelle. When Gael’s businessman character goes to Thailand, he realizes that he wants to change his life. This development sets off a dramatic chain of event that impact the characters of Marife, Michelle and Sophie.
Marife filmed her scenes in New York, Sweden and the Philippines, specifically in Subic and Bataan.
Necesito was born Manila and raised in Valenzuela City. After finishing high school at St. Jude Academy in Valenzuela’s Malinta district, she pursued creative writing for Tagalog komiks and romance novels. When the komiks industry went downhill, she then shifted to acting for theater. Her theatrical stint paved the way for her to act for television commercials and independent films.
