CAM version? and then compressed encoding (file size is less than 100MB).. ouch.. this will be a pain to watch in full screen (unless its full screen of cellphones).

do you have more info on what encoding was used for this? it will help those who may want to download this decide if its worth it or not

yung format kasi nya na AVI is exclusive lang talaga for smartmovie player(movie player program sya for Nokia CP.. iba siya sa realmovie na may 3gp na format) for Nokia CP.. kung sa Nokia CP mo siya papanoorin okei siya..

for more info about smart movie player here's the link:
http://www.lonelycatgames.com/?app=smartmovie

here's the link naman for VLC player

i meant the source of the video. what is the encoding of the source? CAM? TS?

I know it was converted using smart movie (hence I mentioned compressed encoding).

And no, VLC player is NOT the only software that can play AVI files. AVI files are actually container files only, it can contain different kinds of encoding (i.e. smartmovie, divx, mp4, etc etc). And even the one using smartmovie encoding, there is more than one software that can play it besides VLC player (the accopanying smartmovie player software when you install it in your pc will also be able to play it) -- mplayer will also be able to play it. mplayer is similar to VLC but consumes less resources and smaller in size. BUT, not that easy to find since it was originally released for linux distro (there is a windows version though).

a simple codec pack will resolve the problem. hence, sabi ni winn_ferrer gumagana sa windows media player niya. this is most likely because he has the necessary codecs installed.

if you do not want to download another player, just install a codec pack (i.e. XP codec pack, Klite codec pack, etc etc).

as I mentioned before, AVI is only a container format. in short kung baga generic term ang AVI. dapat maging specific like in this case, AVI siya pero it used smartmovie encoding so naturally it will not play on some machines which only recognizes the common AVI encodings (i.e. divx). so dapat namention agad (if possible in the title itself) na smartmovie encoding etong video na to.
