Former Philippine President Corazon Aquino, who sparked a wave of pro-democracy movements around the world by leading a 1986 "people power" revolt, has colon cancer, her daughter said Monday.

Aquino, 75, was swept into power by the peaceful uprising that ousted late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, cementing her as an icon of democracy.

Usually dressed in her trademark yellow in public, she has remained active in social and political causes. Most recently, she has been attending rallies calling for the resignation of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Kris Aquino, her voice breaking as she fought back tears, read a statement on live television that said her mother had gone in for tests after suffering from high blood pressure, difficulty breathing and fever during the Christmas and New Year holidays, then a persistent cough, loss of appetite and weight loss.

I dont think that this is the right time to blame her from thy mistakes nor her daughter kris from being "malandi". lets just rather all hope for her full recovery. I don't blame them but what is the big issue gaganda ba ang buhay kung nalaman natin may cancer. sabi nga ng iba mas maganda pa raw ang buhay nila noon panahon ni Marcoss dahil kahit pulubi sila ang pagkain nila GG. ill take it from you that humans are entirely different from animals whether its scientific or biblically view. lets just put it this way, animals often act on instinct and humans do things according to what they think is sensible, yet as a human and a Filipino no matter how flawed her politics maybe, Cory still occupied a special part of our history and nobody can take that away from her. I do hope in trying times like these, we re-discover the humanity in all of us. specially to you ka-espiya.

We are trying to seperate ourselves to the animal kingdom calling ourselves HUMANs. Like the king and the peasant, the king always want to be superior to the peasant but they are both humans. The king want to be a god and view the peasant as trash or low life a commoner. Like us we views other animals as animals and we view ourself as god.

As for cory, she will die that all. maybe they will use the disease of cory and associate it with the current situation

funny thing though, my first thought when I heard the news that Cory has cancer is about karma. Seems like the spirits of those who died at mendiola and hacienda luisita are coming back to haunt her with a vengeance. Maybe that's why she keeps on praying-to cover up for her own sins.

Ano na ba stage ang cancer ni cory??? Stage 4 ba o stage 5

1. Ang age niya delikado sa surgery dahil mabagal na ang wound healing niya. Some doctors don't advise surgery for elderly due to the risk of slow recovery

2. Chemotherapy pwede pa kaso matatamaan ang mga cells na mabilis mag multiply at this age mabagal na ang kanyang  cell division tapos mag chemo pa siya. Tiyak bawal ang mga visitor's doon dahil mabagal ang immune response

3. Last thing she can do now is surrender herself to the lord yung lang.

Hindi mo pwedeng y proclaim na genius ka hangga't di mo matatalo ang mga henyo sa buong mundo including yung mga 10 years old na tapos na sa college. Tsaka all aspect of knowledge or lahat ng profession alam mo para matawag kang genius. Sa pilipinas iba ang meaning ng genius

1. Kung tanga ka tawag sayo genius (reverse psycology daw)
2. kapag nag aral ka sa UP diliman tsaka ATENEO genius ka daw
3. Kapag marami kang honors genius ka
