I would agree in all points aside from the Cory and FVR statetements. With FVR, allegations might be true. However, he did help regain our country's standing as one of Asia's finest economies during his term. Though it shouldn't always be the case, but for this one, I say that the end justifies the means. I guess it's very relative as to how someone will take these allegations alongside the country's then economic success. But to me, as a citizen, as long as I see that I and the majority of my countrymen are being served well, I don't care if you take my money away. Just make sure that you use enough of it to attend to the needs of the country and help it prosper.
Action without corruption is ideal. But sadly, corruption is already a part of the system. Now, action with corruption, to me is acceptable. But, corruption without action is just plain wrong and will never be acceptable. I believe FVR was able to do this. Though he might have corrupted millions, he did work for the country and help it prosper.
On Cory. I think it's quite unfair to say that she was too feminine to assume the task. I am with you if you meant that she is not qualified to run the country given that she never had first hand experience in politics, and has always only been in the background; both with her family and with her late husband, Ninoy. It didn't help that the RAM didn't want her in the first place. Now these too are allegations, but it cannot be overlooked. It is true that the military, including the RAM, sided with her during the '86 Revolution, but they did this only because she has the support of the masses. Cory never had the full support of the military, especially the RAM. Now it is alleged that the RAM, headed by then Col. Gringo Honassan, broke off the military since it was planned from the beginning that after Cory was seated, they will oust her to put a different president. Please mind the word "alleged" here. But regardless of the motives that the RAM had back then, it still didn't help establish Cory's presidency in the beginning, which led to a sub-par 6-yr. term. She was never given the chance to actually lead the country as a president. Also, it didn't help that everyone around her tried to manipulate her innocence and lack of experience. What I am trying to say is that no matter how tough she could've been during those times, without the support of anyone, and with the system of government that we have, she won't be able to do much. She could've had brilliant plans for the country, but without her "arms" willing to move for her because each is trying to move for themselves, she was nothing but a spectator ridiculed by everyone. She was clamped down by her own presidency which is one of the negatives of a democratic-republican system.
