New Peoples Army recognizes same-sex marriage

On Feb. 4, the New People's Army (NPA) conducted the first same-sex marriage in the Philippines. Two guerrilla fighters who have participated in the armed struggle against the pro-U.S. regime in Manila, Ka Andres and Ka Jose, exchanged their vows before their comrades, friends and local villagers.
The ceremony was full of symbolic imagery of the two comrades' commitment to each other as members of a couple, as well as their commitment to the revolutionary struggle. The two men held each other's hand throughout the wedding, and a bullet in the other as a representation of their commitment to the armed struggle.
During the ceremony, Ka Andres and Ka Jose were draped in a sequined flag of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), which was secured by a long, beaded rope around the couple and their sponsors. The rope and flag, according to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, symbolized that their marriage would be made stronger with the help of both their comrades and the masses.
A choir of the New People's Army serena ded the couple with revolutionary love songs.
In response to the marriage, representatives of the Philippine government have condemned the NPA for lacking religion. A spokesperson for the Air Force generals told reporters, "This proves that they have no god and their morality is very much in question."
Although proposals in support of same-sex marriage have been introduced several times to the Philippine legislature, none have passed so far.
The Progressive Organization of Gays (ProGay) responded to the NPA marriage with a challenge to the administration of President Gloria Macagapal Arroyo to enact legislation that would formalize equal rights for lesbian and gay Filipinos.
Michael Falguera, secretary general of Pro Gay, said, "Instead of branding homosexual marriages as immoral, the government should be taking steps to follow the example of the NPA by legalizing domestic partnerships and honoring gay families."
Speaking on gays in the NPA, newlywed Ka Andres said, "Gay cadres adhere to the strong party discipline. They enhance the prestige of gays in the movement. This has gained positive results through the years. Comrades (male and female) and even the masses have learned to respect and recognize gays and their contribution to the revolution."
Ka Jose said, "What we have to do now--with the help of the party--is to work on our marriage and to be strong while serving the people."

:o All the same!!!! Propaganda BS !!!!!!! Mukha yatang propa ito ng mga NPA ah!!! although walang kwstyon na may kasalang naganap, ang value ng kasalan lies on the propaganda value of the kasalan for the Party and its legal fronts!!!

It should never be forgotten that propaganda is the strength of the CPP-NPA more than its military strength....their's is a struggle to win the hearts and minds of the people.

Kaya nga very stupid ang ginagawa ng government na panggigipit sa Batasan Five! Raul Gonzales and Norberto Gonzales forgot that the CPP-NPA and its legal fronts are masters of the propaganda war!!!!!!

Same sex marriage inside the movement? Its all in the end propaganda BS!!!

That's the other side of the CCP-NPA for you!!!!! ;D

I hate to sound divertive from the main issue but I think given the relatively free media in the country. Both the CCP-NPA propagandists and the government spindoctors are targetting the same audeince using  almost the same tools and the same medium. What one side propounds to be truth, the other side denies and dismisses as lies and falsehoods.

I do  not intend to malign or put the CPP-NPA in a bad light but I just meant to say that the wide publicity allowed by the CPP-NPA higher ups to the same-sex marriage was not only motivated by the Communist Party's acceptance of same-sex marriages but was also meant to show the world the "human side" of one of the world's oldest surviving Maoist-Leninist Guerrilla Fighters.

If that's what we mean by the "other side",. Can the CPP-NPA then be as generous in showing to the world the real numbrs of those who died in the massive bloody purges that shook the CPP-NPA in what is popularly  known as the Kampanyang Ahos during the late eighties until the early and the mid-nineties?

The lynchpin of my argument is that, at least with the government, its propaganda machine is forced by circumstances to go above ground and submit itself to  scrutiny by the media and the people. Whereas, the CPP-NPA Propaganda such as the subject of this thread stops there. Just another publicity stunt to enforce the flagging reputation of an old and decaying movement, a sputtering effort to present itself as a modern movement that accepts social change.

It is during these kind of discussions that most advocates of stricter media controls  find a little space to justify the imposition of censorship and disturbingly many among us will find that indeed it is the logical solution.

Ako? Naaah! i'd rather  listen to Ka Roger Rosal on DZRH with mouthfull of propaganda (kahit minsan nakakabingi na) than be prevented by the government from learning that the CPP-NPA has allowed same-sex marriages in its ranks. But if bakla ako, I'd be a lot happier  kung ang Supreme Court na mismo ang mag-show ng kanyang "other side" and finally allow same sex couples to marry di ba?

Since every individual as enshrined in every nation constitution has the freedom to choose,  then there is no question about that.

Religiously speaking, it is unacceptable and it is an act of defamation against NATURAL Law. However, since we know that they are atheist, then there is no question about that.

Only my question is, is this law or kind of marriage is written in the books of communism or Marxism or any ideologists book for that matter, then if not, lenin or others will risen from the dead and revoke the wedding.

Now i believe that in every institution or fellowship or whatever organization, THERE IS AT LEAST A GAY. hehehe

The nature of a breakthrough is for you to stand on what you have gotten. On what's been
important to you,
what's touched you,
what's inspired you,
what's turned you on.
To stand on that value you've already created for yourself and look out at the possibility
for being alive that opens up.
